Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 259

Wiona hesitated before finally bringing up that day. "I just happened to overhear…"

Conrad looked at her sharply. "You heard me say yes?" His voice was low, demanding.

"Or did you actually hear me say, 'Fine, take Ms. Morgan in for an abortion and get rid of the babies that shouldn't even exist'?"

As he spoke, Conrad suddenly stood up and moved around the table. He leaned forward, bracing his hands on the back of her chair, one on each side of her. She felt completely boxed in, the chair pressing into her back and his chest so close it was like a wall she couldn't climb. He moved in closer, his eyes locked on her, his presence overwhelming.

Wiona could hardly breathe under the weight of his intensity. Instinctively, she put her hands on his chest to hold him back, but the feel of his solid muscles beneath her fingertips made her heart skip. Her cheeks flamed with sudden embarrassment. She froze, not sure if she should leave her hands there or jerk them away.

Conrad stared down at her, his gaze so direct she couldn’t meet it. Her words tumbled out, shaky and soft. "Conrad, didn't you mean it? If you didn't, how would your people even dare to suggest something like that in front of you?"

She pulled her hands away, shrinking back until she was pressed as far into the chair as she could go. But Conrad didn't move any closer. He just hovered over her, eyes fixed on her face.

"Ms. Morgan," he said, his voice steady but cold, "when I found out that some stranger was pregnant with my child because of a ridiculous mistake, my first instinct was to get rid of the embryo, no matter what. But as things became clearer, and I started seeing your name on those reports, I panicked. For me, to actually lose control over something like this—believe me, I never saw that coming. And do you know who made that happen?"

He waited for a beat, letting the silence fill the space between them.

"Once I was sure you were the surrogate, I thought fixing the mistake right away was the only answer. You were Mrs. Salisbury. My child couldn’t have such a complicated background. So, yes, I did arrange for that procedure. But then... I changed my mind. Before you even realized what was going on, I'd already gone against my own decision. The quick, final solution I wanted—I was the one who called it off. And who, Ms. Morgan, do you think I did all that for?"

His words hit her like a punch. Wiona's heart pounded in her chest, the sound so loud she was sure he could hear it. Could it really be because of her? The thought left her stunned. She didn’t let herself believe it. She told herself, even if it was for her, it must have been because of Alice’s illness that he wavered.

But then Conrad spoke again, and this time his words left her completely rattled.

"Ms. Morgan, you really have turned my world upside down. Even if you hadn’t divorced your husband, I would have found a way to make it happen. Even if everyone called me shameless or heartless. You can’t keep being Mrs. Salisbury."

Conrad straightened up, rubbing his chin as if something finally clicked into place. "No wonder you blocked me. You knew I was the father and you didn’t want to get involved, so you kept your distance. Every time you saw me after that, you ran like a frightened rabbit."

Wiona could only think, Good, as long as you get it.

Conrad picked up the teapot and poured her a cup of hot fruit tea, then sat back down, folding his hands loosely as he looked at her.

"Alright, let’s keep going. I want to know, when did you start planning to leave?"

Wiona clenched the fabric of her skirt, took a deep breath, and finally looked him straight in the eyes.

"From the moment things started getting more complicated with you, and with the Sullivan family. My plan was always to wait until the divorce, finish the contract with you, and then leave Stonehill to start over somewhere new."
