Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 262

Wiona was no fool. She’d picked up on the weird energy in the manor as soon as she got back. For one, Donna was nowhere to be seen. Libby was missing too. The new butler, Phil, was decent enough, but Wiona could tell most people were keeping their distance from her. Honestly, she didn’t care. She was just a guest at Hawthorne Hall. Once she sorted things out with Conrad about the kids, she’d be gone anyway.

After Wiona’s car pulled away, Donna let the curtain fall back into place and pulled out her phone. “Hello? I think it’s time for you to come home.”

When Wiona arrived at the hospital, Jean was already waiting for her downstairs. Jean’s eyes were swollen from crying, and as soon as she saw Wiona, she fell to her knees. “Wiona, I’m so sorry. When Grandma Grace went missing, I shouldn’t have blamed you. I shouldn’t have said those things to the police. It was all my fault. Please, I’m begging you, go see Grandma Grace. She’s barely hanging on, just waiting to see you one last time. Please… I’ll do anything, just show her a little kindness…”

Dr. Monroe, his eyes red, hurried over to help his mother up. “Mom, get up. Wiona’s here, she’s going to see Grandma Grace. You’re making things awkward for her. Please, get up. Wiona’s not the type to hold a grudge or make this harder than it already is…”

Even as he said it, his voice wavered. He glanced at Wiona, looking guilty, and she caught on right away. Her eyes flashed with anger. “You lied to me? Florian, you’ve got some nerve.”

Dr. Monroe shrank back. “No, I didn’t, Grandma Grace said it herself… she wants to help handle the divorce between you and Jace…”

People passing by had already started staring. Wiona didn’t want to be the center of attention, standing there at the hospital entrance. She waved her hand, her face cold. “What are you waiting for? Lead the way.”

Wiona looked at the bed and felt her heart squeeze. Grandma Grace looked… so small, so fragile. It was like she’d shrunk in on herself. Her skin was gray and lifeless, her face drawn, her breathing so shallow. Wiona could feel death in the room, hanging there. She finally understood how people could sense when someone was about to go. The difference was obvious. The spark was gone. Even if a miracle showed up, it wouldn’t be enough. Sorrow rose in Wiona’s chest. She hadn’t expected this day to come so soon.

Grandma Grace seemed to sense her. Her eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, a faint light returned to their depths. She moved her finger just a little. “Come… here…”

Wiona stepped closer, her voice soft. “Grandma Grace.”
