"Alright, that’s settled. I’m hanging up now."
Florian ended the call before Wiona could say a word, almost like he was afraid she might refuse him if he waited another second.
Wiona just stared at her phone for a moment. Well, at least Florian knew how to choose an ally.
But honestly, this wasn’t something she could take lightly. Florian had a point. Grandma Grace might be gone, but even from the grave, she’d managed to dig one more trap for her. If the Salisbury family ever found out the truth, Jace would never leave her alone. Just thinking about it made Wiona’s head ache. The divorce papers themselves were just another one of Grandma Grace’s calculated moves, as if she was sure Wiona would give up on leaving Jace the moment money was involved. Bank shares, a foundation chair, all those supposed temptations… Grandma Grace really didn’t know her at all.
And she definitely didn’t know that the babies growing inside Wiona weren’t even related to the Salisburys. Wiona would never let her kids fight for someone else’s inheritance. She wasn’t about to stay tied to a jerk like Jace just for money. All she wanted was to cut the Salisbury family out of her life for good. The less she had to do with them, the better.
As for that so-called token and key, Wiona already had a pretty good guess what they were. She thought for a moment, then called Mason over.
"Get Kellen’s dad to go after her for money. The more he asks for, the better."
Mason nodded. "Got it, boss."
Once Mason left, Wiona scrolled through her memory and dialed Kellen’s number.
Kellen nearly dropped her phone when she saw who was calling. She’d memorized Wiona’s number ages ago, but she never imagined Wiona would be the one to call her first. She hated Wiona with every fiber of her being, but these past couple of days, she’d been riding high. That bitch Wiona finally got divorced, and now Kellen herself was carrying Jace’s baby. A life of luxury was practically waving her over, and she was loving every second of it.
So what if Wiona had a gorgeous face? Jace still dumped her. So what if she used to come from a rich family? Now she was nothing, just a nameless orphan with no real background. And now that Kellen was pregnant with Jace’s child, what could Wiona possibly do to compete?
Kellen rushed out the door, only to run straight into her father.
John took one look at her—dressed head to toe in designer brands, makeup perfect—and slapped her hard across the head. "Kellen! Your brother is rotting in jail and you’re out here living it up. What makes you think you deserve any of this? I asked you for money, and you keep dodging me! I’m gonna beat some sense into you."
After Mason brought him to see Kellen, she’d run off and made sure to avoid him. He couldn’t find her no matter how hard he tried, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he got. His own daughter, living the good life, looking down on her family, refusing to help.
His face was twisted with rage, and he looked ready to grab her by the hair and really let loose. Kellen quickly threw her hands over her head, shouting, "Dad, please! Don’t hit me!"
She had no idea how he found her new place, but she was too caught up in dreams of her soon-to-be rich life to care. Grabbing his arm, she blurted out in a rush, "I have money, Dad! I’m about to get a ton of money!"
