“Weren’t we just talking about Jace? Spill it, what did you do to make this happen?”
“And wait, I haven’t even checked the new tweets he posted. I have to see them first.”
Wiona grabbed her phone and started scrolling through Twitter again.
Jace’s name was everywhere. Every related topic had shot straight into the top ten trending spots.
This was wild.
She went right to his profile and scrolled through his posts, reading each one carefully.
[Kellen and I were each other’s first love. Kellen is the light in my life. To everyone out there, please stop sharing her photos. If anyone keeps trying to hurt her, I’ll take legal action to protect her and our relationship.]
[Kellen was forced to leave back then. We broke up because we had no choice. Our love ended in the saddest way. Now that we’ve found our way back to each other, all I want is to hold on to the most genuine feelings I’ve ever had.]
[Ms. Morgan and I were only married in name.]
[Ms. Morgan and I got divorced in the first half of last year. Any time you saw us together after that was just for the sake of family reputation and business, including the last press conference. We had to ask Ms. Morgan to help out.]
[Ms. Morgan and I have moved on and are free to live our own lives.]
[Ms. Morgan and I ended things peacefully. I hope we both find happiness from now on.]
The more Wiona read, the more confused she felt.
Was Jace losing his mind?
At first, every post was about Kellen, defending their love, trying to protect her.
But then, out of nowhere, it was all about Wiona.
It actually seemed like he was making a point to clear away the rumors and the baggage that had been hanging over her, the stuff she’d been most worried about.
Anyone who knew him, who knew how ruthless he could be, especially after how the Salisburys had treated Wiona, would have expected him to destroy them completely by now.
But he’d let them struggle until now.
Wiona used to think it was because he just didn’t care about the Salisburys at all.
Now she realized it was the opposite. He cared so much, maybe too much.
He’d left them just enough room to breathe, like he was holding Salisbury Corporation by the throat. He could end them any time, but instead he let them cling to hope, believing they might still survive.
That was the cruelest thing of all.
The Salisburys, desperate to hold on to whatever hope they had, would never miss a single opportunity.
Maybe... this was exactly the chance Conrad had been waiting for.
