Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 78

“If you really think I hurt Kellen, go ahead and call the cops.”

“The hospital has security cameras. Let the police figure out if I pushed her or if I was defending myself.”

“And while we’re at it, I’ll report what happened yesterday too. There were plenty of witnesses who saw Kellen chasing me with a stick. I couldn’t have made that up.”

As soon as Wiona brought it up, Jace hesitated.

She took that chance and kicked him hard between the legs.

Jace’s eyes went wide. He doubled over, clutching himself, barely able to breathe.

Wiona knocked the scissors out of his hand with another swift kick. “Cut my hair? Keep dreaming.”

Barefoot, she jumped from the bed and made a break for the door.

“Stop!” Jace shouted, voice strained with pain.

He couldn’t let her get away. Gritting his teeth, he stumbled after her.

Wiona frantically pressed the elevator button, glancing over her shoulder as Jace limped into the hallway.

She thought about running for the stairs but was terrified she might fall and hurt her babies.

Luckily, Jace was moving slow, clearly struggling after her kicks.

The elevator arrived just in time. She bolted inside, only to crash straight into a solid chest.

She bounced back, stunned, but someone caught her before she could fall.

“Wiona!”

In the same heartbeat, the elevator doors slid shut right in Jace’s face.

She watched the numbers drop, heart pounding, but couldn’t even feel relieved. She’d just realized who she’d bumped into.

Conrad.

He let go, his eyes fixed on the swelling on her cheek.

“Looks like you’ve had a rough day.”

Wiona tried to keep her distance. “Mr. Sullivan, you’re the richest man in Stonehill. Shouldn’t you be busy? Or do you just have a lot of free time to follow me around?”

Her meaning was obvious. Why did he keep showing up wherever she went?

Conrad didn’t flinch. “I’m not free. I came here looking for you.”

Wiona turned away, her face unreadable.

Conrad glanced at her in the rearview mirror, but she didn’t ask why he was there, and he didn’t offer an explanation.

The car was heading toward her hotel when, at a stoplight, Conrad noticed a black van in the mirror.

It had been tailing them for three blocks. The windows were so dark you couldn’t see inside.

He took in the scratches on the van, the worn tires, every detail under the streetlights.

“Ms. Morgan, you might want to buckle up.”

Wiona tore her eyes from the window, confused. “What?”

Conrad’s gaze sharpened, voice low. “We’re being followed.”

Wiona’s blood ran cold. She had zero interest in being part of a car chase. “Then why are you— ah!”

Before she could finish, the light flipped green. Conrad spun the wheel, making a sharp turn and darting in front of traffic.

Wiona screamed and grabbed onto the seat, panic rising. “Slow down! My babies—”
