Divorced My Cheating Husband, Married A Billionaire novel Chapter 93

Hearing Mara and Claire's exchange, Brian felt guilty. He remembered how everything was his fault. Brian pursued Claire and took her virginity. He got her pregnant but was now doubting her because of the godfather.

'How selfish of me to doubt Claire,' Brian muttered.

He walked in and interrupted, "Mother is right. Everything would have been for nothing if you would leave me."

He embraced Claire and said, "I'm sorry for troubling you with my worries, but don't worry. I can handle this situation with Riley. Claire, we are getting married this Saturday. Stop saying things like these. I want to raise my child. You know that I have always wanted to be a father."

"I'm sorry, Babe. I'm sorry," Claire said while still crying in his arms. "I don't know what came over me."

"It's the pregnancy hormones, Brian. We, women, are like that. Don't take what Claire said to heart. She really loves you," Mara said. "Talk to her for a while. I'll go to the kitchen and help the maids prepare breakfast."

It took a while, but Brian managed to console Claire. They had breakfast, and Brian left for work soon.

In the middle of the day, Brian received a reply from Mr. Barlowe. When he saw the email come in, his heart raced. He clicked it and read:

[Dear Brian,

Yes, I am Claire's godfather. I am a family man, so I did not like how Claire got involved with you. However, Claire insisted that you love each other. So, I will let it be.

I am sorry for my intrusion. I only wanted the best for Claire.

Unfortunately, I cannot attend your wedding, but I wish you and Claire the best of luck.

Sincerely,

William Barlowe]

The email comforted Brian in unimaginable ways. Somehow, he had been seeking answers, and this provided them. His decisions and plans were later validated when he had dinner again with his parents.

The Monets and the Martins were at the restaurant where the reception would be held, food tasting.

"Okay, it's final. We will have the oriental chicken salad, the brisket, the grilled prawns, and wine to pair for the wedding party," Beatrice told the coordinator.

"I am so glad that Claire is so sensible," Beatrice described. "When Brian married Riley, we spent a lot!"

"I thought it was okay," Darwin Martin commented.

"Oh, come on. It was too lavish," Beatrice insisted before rolling her eyes.

"Well, Mom. Claire and I did not really have the time to go big," Brian expressed.

"Oh, but Claire won't need a big wedding, right, Claire?" Beatrice asked Claire with a smile.

Claire smiled back and confirmed, "All I want is to be with Brian. A small wedding is enough for me."

"See?" Beatrice pointed out. "Claire is just a simple girl, and I like her."

"Hahaha!" Mara laughed awkwardly. She said, "Yes, we are simple people, and we like it that way."

"You know, Riley was so high-maintenance. She keeps buying jewelry and loves to travel," Beatrice shared. "It was probably why we never got along."

When dinner was over, Brian was about to discuss a very important matter. In his bag was a prenuptial agreement. Brian just wanted to be safe, so he had it made, and his mother, Beatrice, agreed to it. However, before he could bring up the document, Mara said, "We have something to tell everyone."

They all turned to Mara and Claire. Mara took a document from her big bag and said, "Claire and I thought hard about this. Because we came from a poor family, we did not want Claire to be judged by marrying Brian. So, we consulted a lawyer and prepared a prenuptial agreement."

"Brian did not prepare one, so we did," Mara added. "This document will safeguard Brian's assets in case of a separation, but of course -" Mara laughed and added, "Let's not hope for that."

"Wow. I did not expect that to come from you," Darwin Martin reacted, whereas, Beatrice was touched.

Riley was very ashamed, but she could not resist but laugh. Adrian also cracked up, and he said, "No, Grandpa. You can ask Riley, I am a performer."

"Riley?" Abner asked.

Riley hid behind her husband and smacked his shoulder. She said, "How could you put me in the spotlight?"

"Well, Riley?" Abner asked again.

Left with no choice, Riley meekly answered, "Yes, he is a performer."

"Good to know. Well, if it's not that, what do you have to tell me?" Abner probed.

Riley and Adrian looked at each other before finally, the man stood up and walked around. Adrian revealed, "I can walk, Grandpa. I have been able to for a while now."

"I'm sorry, Grandpa," Adrian explained his reasons for staying in the wheelchair.

Tears.

Abner's face became awash with tears.

"Sorry? This is a reason to celebrate! Bless you!" Abner stood up and embraced Adrian. He kissed Adrian's cheeks and said, "I always had faith in you, my boy. I knew this would happen one day, and I'm so glad you never gave up."

The old man pulled away and studied Adrian's frame. He nodded repeatedly and said, "Even better!"

With his fist up, Abner declared, "This means you can push harder. I'll have a great-grandchild soon!"

Riley, "..."
