Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 128

Most of the people watching were loyal brand fans, business partners, or reporters that Ada had invited. The comment section was filled with talk about the brand and nothing else.

Camilla took a steady breath and started her live stream. “I’m really sorry for misleading everyone. I’m not here to promote a new product. I’m here to expose a ridiculous lie. I…”

She didn’t even get to finish that sentence. There was a shout outside. “Barnard, Camilla is streaming for the new product launch, you can’t go in!”

But it was too late. The door crashed open. Barnard stormed in, his face dark with rage, and without hesitating, he yanked the power cord from her computer.

The screen snapped to black.

Ada’s worried voice echoed from behind him.

Barnard arrived even quicker than Camilla had expected. But she stayed calm. She had prepared for this. On her social media, she’d already scheduled a post with the crucial surveillance footage.

It would go out in half an hour.

Her original plan was to post the video after the live stream, using it as evidence. Even though the stream was ruined, the video would still be posted. The truth would get out, one way or another.

Barnard’s mask was off now, and as he faced her again, Camilla felt a strange sense of calm.

She turned to Ada. “This doesn’t have anything to do with you. You should go.”

Ada shot her another anxious look before leaving, closing the door behind her.

With the room silent, Barnard got right to the point. “So, you saw it, right? You think you can bring me down? Someone as sharp as you wouldn’t just set up one live. I know you’ve got backup.”

Everything was out in the open. No more pretending.

Barnard let out a long sigh, sounding almost exhausted. “Why are you so stubborn, Camilla? I’ve already told you, if we both just let it go, things will be easier for us. If you force this, you can’t handle what’s coming.”

She met his gaze without blinking. “There’s nothing you can do that would make me let my mother’s attacker get away. I don’t care about the consequences.”

She was killing time. Just a little longer. Once the thirty minutes were up, the video would be public, and it would all be over for Barnard and Davina. That thought made it easier to deal with him for a few minutes more.

Barnard’s voice grew softer. “You know, Camilla, you’re great in every way except this stubbornness. You’ve stayed by my side all these years. I know I owe you, really. I wanted to make it up to you. But there are some things that are just too much for you to handle. I don’t want that for you. Why can’t you ever learn? Why do you keep pushing me? What am I supposed to do with you?”

He made his voice sound gentle, even sympathetic. He swept a finger lightly behind her ear, tucking her hair back. He looked, for a second, like some lovesick husband, gazing at his difficult but adored wife.

Camilla brushed his hand away. “Stop with the act. I can’t stand you. If you really have something on me, then show me. Stop playing games.”

Barnard’s expression faltered. He sighed, reached into his bag, and pulled out a stack of documents, placing them in front of her. “If you won’t back down, then let’s negotiate a different way.”
