The moment Camilla spoke up, the crowd fell silent. Everyone realized this was bigger than just a simple argument and watched even more closely, eager to see what would happen next.
Bonnie met Camilla’s eyes, drew in a breath, and finally started talking. Her voice was steady, but there was a quiet strength in it as she told her side. She explained how Davina used to work as her nanny, how her carelessness had landed Bonnie’s daughter in the ICU, and then how Davina never once admitted her fault. With the police standing right there, Davina tried several times to butt in, but Bonnie never gave her a chance.
Bonnie went on to reveal how Barnard—because of his relationship with Davina—had threatened her too. At the end of it all, Bonnie looked around and said, “Honestly, I didn’t want to say all this in front of everyone. But if we want to talk about who’s been wronged, I think it’s me. Davina worked in my house as a nanny, and her neglect sent my little girl to the ICU. My daughter just got out of the hospital, and now Davina’s daughter is bullying mine, calling her an ugly freak. But every scar my child has came from that accident that Davina caused. I honestly can’t figure out how someone who hurt my daughter can still act like the victim and continue bullying her.”
While she spoke, Bonnie gently covered Elaine’s ears so she wouldn’t have to hear all the painful details.
She didn’t scream or sob, but every word had weight. It was impossible not to feel the heartache behind what she said.
The people around were stunned. They stared at Davina, unable to hide their shock.
Davina tried to defend herself, her words shaky. “That’s not what happened. It’s not like that, I—”
Before Davina could finish, Bonnie cut her off, her tone icy. “You still want to deny it? I have proof you worked for me as a nanny. I have my daughter’s medical reports and even records showing your fiancé sent money to my in-laws. Do you want me to bring all that out too?”
Davina, who had been smug just moments before, now looked completely panicked. Her face went pale as she stared at Bonnie, desperate for a way out. She stammered, “Bonnie, we already settled this, didn’t we? Why bring it back up now? You took what we offered, and now you’re making this public? Aren’t you going back on your word?”
Bonnie gave a cold, bitter laugh. “You want to talk about going back on your word? After what your daughter did to mine? You covered for her and even tried to twist the story to make me look bad, stopping us from leaving when things got heated. Did it ever cross your mind if any of that was even right?”
