Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 345

Camilla walked away, and Barnard just let her go.

He didn't rush off either. Instead, he leaned back against his car, took his time lighting a cigarette, and kept his eyes on the BLC building in front of him.

He was the one who had set this place up for Camilla. He could still picture her first day at the company, lighting up as she told him her dreams for the future.

She used to say she’d make their brand famous all over the country, maybe even around the world.

She actually had the talent to do it, too. Most of her goals were already checked off and BLC had become a household name. But somewhere along the way, it stopped being "their" brand.

Just like Camilla herself, the distance between them kept getting wider.

The cigarette burned down until there was nothing but ash. The wind swept it away, not leaving a single trace behind, just like Camilla. She walked out of his life so cleanly, so easily, that it was as if none of it—none of what they’d shared—ever even happened.

And him...

Barnard swallowed the sour feeling rising up in his chest, gave a bitter, self-mocking chuckle, then finally got into his car and drove away.

His mind was miles away and he didn’t even notice Davina lurking in the shadows on the other side of the building.

Davina watched with eyes full of anger as Barnard’s car drove off. She was shaking with rage, her nails digging so hard into her palms she actually broke the skin and drew blood.

Standing right next to her was Shirley.

Shirley had been keeping tabs on Camilla after failing to get in touch with Davina. She was planning to collect a bit more dirt, then send it anonymously to Davina, and maybe stir the pot with a few choice words.

But not even ten minutes after hearing that Barnard had shown up at BLC, she got a reply from Davina.

Davina seemed pleased with her flattery and even agreed to go shopping with her.

So Shirley figured, why not take things a step further? She brought Davina to the area, right where she could see everything for herself.

They were a little late and a bit too far away to catch everything Camilla and Barnard said, but they heard enough to get the main idea.

Then Barnard stayed behind after Camilla left, his expression so full of longing you almost couldn't look at it.

Shirley noticed the look on Davina’s face, how close she was to falling apart. Inside, Shirley was just thrilled, but she put on her best shocked face.

“Oh wow, Davina… Is that Barnard and his ex-wife? What the heck are they doing together? I mean…”

She acted so shocked she couldn’t even finish a full sentence. All that did was send Davina’s temper boiling over.
