Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 441

Barnard broke out in a cold sweat upon hearing Calvin's description. The timing was too coincidental.

He suddenly thought of Camilla.

If the police officer Calvin mentioned really was Camilla's father, then even if it hadn't been Calvin's intention, he had indirectly caused the man's death. It seemed a blood feud now stood between them. Could he still win Camilla back?

For the first time, Barnard felt utterly stripped of his confidence.

"What did he look like?" Barnard demanded, unable to hide his urgency.

Calvin tried to recall, but ultimately shook his head. "It's been too long, I really can't remember. Besides, I didn't dare look closely at the time. Barnard, why on earth are you asking about this?"

"The man you're working for now, Zachary, he was the one transporting the goods. Do you remember who he handed the person over to?" Barnard pressed.

Camilla had suddenly come to Valdoria recently. He hadn't understood her motives before, but now the pieces were falling into place. She was clearly looking for information about her father.

"Well... the guy didn't show his face. I only saw his back. From his build and the way he moved, he looked a bit like Clement," Calvin finally answered after some thought.

Barnard's blood ran cold. The last shred of hope in his heart shattered into nothingness.

He knew exactly what kind of dirty business Clement was involved in. If that police officer truly was Camilla's father and had been handed over to Clement, there was only one outcome. He had become one of the many test subjects.

He had read the files from the early years.

When Clement first started this operation, he was much bolder than he was now. Many of the test subjects were disposed of in the most brutal ways imaginable, without so much as a grave to mark their existence.

"Are you sure?" Barnard asked, clinging to a desperate prayer.

"Probably. They might have had some shady dealings," Calvin said. "Barnard, why are you acting like you've seen a ghost just from hearing about this cop? What are you thinking? Is he really that important?"

Under Calvin's relentless questioning, Barnard finally voiced his suspicion. "The police officer you're talking about might be Camilla's father."

"What? How could there be such a coincidence?" Calvin gasped in shock.

A look of sheer helplessness washed over Barnard's face. *Exactly. How could it be such a coincidence?*
