Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 466

Dahlia followed Magee straight out the front gates, where they immediately spotted Camilla's car.

Camilla had been waiting for a while. She was just debating whether to march up and knock on the door when she saw Pamela storm out in a towering rage. Realizing Pamela had hit a brick wall, the heavy knot of anxiety in Camilla's chest loosened, and she decided to stay put.

It wasn't until she saw Dahlia and Magee walking out together, both looking perfectly calm, that Camilla completely relaxed. She opened her door and stepped out of the car.

"Camilla, is Pamela giving you a hard time again because of me?" Dahlia asked immediately.

"Not necessarily. I think she's actually targeting me this time," Camilla said. "Come on, let's talk somewhere else."

Anticipating that Dahlia might be in a bad state and in need of comforting, Camilla had already booked a private room at a nearby restaurant. Less than ten minutes later, they were all seated inside.

Camilla first introduced Jeniffer to Dahlia before getting straight to the point. "What did Pamela want with you this time?"

"She offered a massive sum of money and demanded we go through with the engagement.

I know a bit about the Gates family's financial situation. They've been doing even worse than the Adams family lately; there's no way they have that kind of cash lying around.

And on top of that, a lot of the gifts she brought today were raw jade materials.

The Gates family is in the jewelry business. They don't normally gift raw materials. It felt more like a deliberate display of newfound wealth," Magee chimed in, frowning as he began analyzing Pamela's bizarre behavior with Camilla.

Being in the same industry, Camilla knew a bit about The Gates Group. They used to import their raw materials from merchants in Silvania. They had some influence in the market, but nowhere near enough to monopolize it.

This sudden display of astronomical wealth was definitely suspicious.

"What about you, Camilla? What has she done to you? She threatened me today, said she was going to bankrupt you. She..."

"It's not that serious. She doesn't have that much power yet. She's just temporarily cut off my suppliers," Camilla reassured her.

Even so, Dahlia looked shocked. "Since when did the Gates family have that kind of pull? Haven't you worked with those suppliers for years? How could they be influenced so easily?"

"She probably has connections with someone in Silvania," Camilla noted. "Dahlia, I still think you're her main target. You should probably head back to Valdoria for now. I'll see if I can get in touch with Mike and have him send some guys to keep an eye on you."

Pamela's sudden resurgence, combined with her ties to Silvania—it was all too coincidental. Camilla absolutely refused to let Dahlia get dragged into this mess.

"Are you trying to figure out what's really going on with Pamela?" Magee asked.

He cast a slightly apologetic glance at Camilla and added, "I know I was a coward before and put both you and Dahlia in awful situations. Just let me do this to make up for it."

Since he put it like that, Dahlia finally caved. "Camilla, maybe we should let him try.

Pamela is still obsessed with him. He'll definitely have better luck getting answers out of her than we would."

Catching the slight edge in Dahlia's voice, Magee quickly backpedaled. "Dahlia, I promise this is strictly business. I'll wear the wire the entire time so you can hear every word. There is absolutely nothing going on between us."

"I never said there was. Can you just relax?" Dahlia muttered, exasperated.

Magee chuckled. "As your primary doctor, I am responsible for your health. I can't have you stressing out over anything."

"Camilla is sitting right here, keep it down," Dahlia hissed, pinching his arm awkwardly before redirecting the conversation. "You literally just tore Pamela to shreds earlier today. How are you even going to convince her to meet you?

If we knew we were going to need her, we shouldn't have been so harsh."

Magee reached over and ruffled Dahlia's hair. "It's fine, she's incredibly easy to read. Didn't she say it herself? She's just waiting for me to come crawling back to her."
