Magee didn't stay in the private room much longer before heading out.
Before leaving, he actually had someone drop off a live-streaming audio recorder. It was synced directly to Dahlia's phone, allowing everyone in the room to hear exactly what was happening on his end.
Once Magee was gone, Jeniffer started teasing. "Damn, girl. How did you train your man to be so obedient? You need to give Camilla some pointers.
Look at Lance—he took off without a word. If he had just left some kind of tracker or communication device, Camilla wouldn't be half this stressed."
It was obvious Jeniffer was just trying to lighten the mood. Lance had gone thousands of miles away to Silvania; even if he had a communication device, there was no guarantee he'd have a signal.
Dahlia answered seriously, "I didn't really do anything. It's mostly just guilt on his part.
It's different with Camilla. Lance is genuinely in love with her. Even if he didn't tell her where he was going, it was probably just because he didn't want her to worry."
The wounds from the past still lingered in Dahlia's heart.
Even though Magee treated her wonderfully now, she still struggled to believe he truly loved her. She always felt it was just guilt driving his actions.
Jeniffer waved a hand dismissively. "So what if it's guilt? At least he respects you and actually cares about your opinion now. That's more than enough."
Those few words seemed to slice right through Dahlia's lingering insecurities, bringing a sudden wave of clarity.
She was right. There was no point in obsessing over it. She had already decided to be with Magee, and he was putting her first. That was enough.
Just then, the phone that had been sitting silently on the table crackled as it connected to Magee's microphone. Voices began filtering through.
After the sound of traffic faded, Pamela's voice echoed from the speaker.
The heiress's tone was as condescending as ever. "Magee, weren't you acting so tough earlier? Why did you come looking for me now?
What's wrong? Did you finally figure it out and decide you want to be with me?"
She was clearly still fuming, her words dripping with mockery, but the fact remained that the second Magee called, she had come running.
She was pathologically obsessed with him.
In a private room at a nearby hotel, Magee sat directly across from her. "It wasn't convenient to talk with everyone else around earlier. I came to discuss this investment you mentioned for the Adams family.
