Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1149

Theia nodded obediently, suddenly looking like a dutiful student sitting at attention, hanging on to her daughter's every word.

Five minutes later, Juniper stood up, ready to leave. Lingering any longer would make Corvus suspicious.

"Seven," Theia stood up with her, her face twisting with anxiety and a desperate reluctance to let her go. Her lips trembled. "Are you going to be okay?"

"I'll be fine." Juniper didn't hesitate for a second. "Someone recently almost died for me. My life is far too precious now. I won't let anyone touch it."

"What about Celine?" Theia asked, her eyes red with worry. "If things go south, grab your sister and run. Don't look back."

"And what about Dad?" Juniper shot back.

"Your father and I are together forever," Theia said firmly. The underlying message was clear: they would survive together, or they would die together. But they were never being separated again.

"Understood," Juniper said, swallowing the massive lump of grief in her throat. "Goodbye, Mom."

"Goodbye, Seven."

The moment the words left the air, Juniper slammed her fist against the iron door. "Open it," she ordered coldly.

The door swung open, and Juniper strode out without a single backward glance.

The second she crossed the threshold, Theia grabbed a metal chair and hurled it violently at her retreating back.

*BANG—*

The chair smashed against the heavy iron door with a deafening crash.

"Miss Specter, you'd do well to remember whose territory you're standing on," Corvus gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with lethal intent.

"Sanctum Holdings." Juniper met his gaze dead-on, entirely unimpressed. "And? Your point is? Let me remind you, I am a business partner. I'm not one of your attack dogs. Watch your tone when you speak to me."

Corvus glared at the girl. She was barely out of her teens, yet her arrogance was off the charts. He wanted to execute her on the spot, but his hands were tied. With the Sigma Network temporarily paralyzed, the Subterra Vanguard held too much leverage. And she clearly knew it.

"Don't get too comfortable thinking you own the board. I'm sure the Schwartz Group would pay a fortune to know exactly who orchestrated that little car accident," Corvus threatened smoothly.

"Are you threatening me?" Juniper tossed the cigarette into the trash and slowly got to her feet. She looked at him with the cold, dead-eyed stare of a cartel boss. "You think I'm scared of you? If it weren't for the massive payout at the end of this, I'd rip your head off your shoulders for talking to me like that."

"You better have the skills to back up that mouth," Corvus hissed, his aura turning pitch black.

What the hell was wrong with his luck? Why was every woman he dealt with an absolute psycho?
