Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1540

Inside the conference room.

The board of directors, having been abruptly summoned, exchanged bewildered looks and whispered among themselves.

Word on the grapevine was that the former young lady of the house had returned and threatened to replace the chairman.

Even with the backing of the Schwartz family, it was completely illegitimate.

It was going to be an uphill battle.

As they were chatting, Juniper and Shanley appeared side-by-side at the door.

*Clatter—*

In an instant, every single board member shot up from their seats, casting reverent gazes upon the undisputed business titan of Borealia.

The Sherwin family's status in Eclara City was middling at best; these directors normally couldn't even get an audience with Schwartz Group's upper management.

Let alone meet Shanley Schwartz in the flesh.

The sheer intimidation radiating from Borealia's financial overlord was no joke.

"M-Mr. Schwartz!"

The board members exchanged nervous glances, stuttering out their greetings.

"This is my fiancée."

Shanley hadn't responded to their greetings. He simply turned his head toward Juniper, his implication clear.

"Ah, Ms. Payne... No, no, Mrs. Schwartz."

"A pleasure, Mrs. Schwartz."

The corner of Shanley's mouth curled up. He was satisfied.

"Juniper, what the hell are you doing?" Malcolm came rushing in right then, fuming. "If you aren't here to save Sherwin Group from this crisis, then get out."

Before he could even get close, Felton and Flint blocked his path.

"If you dare touch a single hair on her head, your company won't be the only thing you lose today."

Shanley's voice echoed with lazy menace.

Malcolm froze in his tracks, not daring to take another step.

Shanley was notoriously arrogant, ruthless, and decisive. If you crossed him, you wouldn't even know how you died.

That little bitch Juniper had basically wrapped herself in an impenetrable shield.

"Let's go."

Shanley took Juniper's hand and led her to the head of the conference table.

He thoughtfully pulled out the chair for her, then took off his suit jacket and draped it over the seat to ensure she wouldn't touch anything dirty.

*Gasp—*

It turned out she was here for a hostile takeover.

"Heh."

Malcolm let out a cold sneer. "You want Sherwin Group? Who gave you the right?"

"Or are you trying to use brute force to bully me into stepping down?"

"If that's your game," Malcolm smiled hideously, completely unhinged now. "I've got nothing left to lose. I'd rather run Sherwin Group into the ground than hand it over to you."

When the old man was alive, he had always favored this wild brat.

Even in death, he had wanted to leave the company to her.

He just couldn't understand it. He was the man's biological son!

The old man had been far too biased.

"Hmph."

Juniper remained silent, but Shanley spoke up first. "My fiancée is incredibly capable all on her own. She doesn't need to borrow the Schwartz family's power."

"I'm just tagging along today as her bodyguard."

Shanley casually adjusted his shirt cuffs, speaking with terrifying nonchalance. "Whoever my fiancée tells me to cripple, I cripple."

"Not because she can't do it herself, but because she doesn't want to get her hands dirty."
