Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1150

"You'll see soon enough if I have the skills," Juniper sneered, gracefully dropping back into her chair.

She began rhythmically tapping her fingernails against the mahogany table, her eyes narrowing into a sharp, predatory squint as she stared down the infuriated man. She radiated the overwhelming dominance of an apex predator.

Corvus scowled, completely unable to read what game this brat was playing.

The tense silence was broken when a subordinate sprinted into the room, gasping for air. "Boss! Dr. Sommers… she agreed to join the project!"

For nearly twenty years, despite countless threats to her husband and daughter, Theia had only ever done the absolute bare minimum to keep them alive. She never fully cooperated. And Corvus had refused to physically harm her. It had been a stalemate. Yet now, she was actually volunteering?

"Are you sure?" Corvus asked, his voice dripping with suspicion. He had exhausted every torturous avenue available to him. What on earth had Specter said to her in those five minutes?

"Yes, sir," the subordinate nodded frantically. "Dr. Sommers said she suddenly remembered the critical sequences and variables from the original project."

Corvus stood frozen, his eyes slowly drifting over to Juniper. His expression was an unreadable mix of shock and calculation. If Theia could actually replicate the research from over a decade ago, the Gene Modification Project was practically in the bag.

"Take her to the lab," he ordered, masking his inner turmoil. He still didn't entirely believe that a few words from this arrogant girl could shatter decades of stubborn resistance.

"Yes, Boss!"

The guards immediately escorted Theia to the underground laboratory.

"The data algorithms for the final stages are a complete mess. It can't be salvaged quickly," Theia stated, crossing her arms as she addressed the room. "Your team is entirely incompetent. If you keep using these idiots, you're just going to produce genetic garbage."

The researchers flushed beet red, completely humiliated but too outclassed to argue.

"Tell Corvus that if he wants this project finished anytime soon, it's going to require actual talent." Theia stood up, looking directly into the security camera with a mocking smirk. "He needs to find some scientists who aren't totally useless. Otherwise, finishing this in a year is an absolute pipe dream."

Corvus listened in silence. A few seconds later, his gaze shifted toward Juniper, who was casually sipping her coffee.

"Miss Specter… if memory serves, your med-research institute has developed quite a few revolutionary drugs, hasn't it?"
