The hot water felt good on my skin, washing away the last remnants of the fever sweat from yesterday. I stood under the spray longer than usual, letting it soothe my still-aching muscles. My mind kept drifting back to last night – Scarlett’s soft moans, the way her body trembled under my tongue, and the way she looked up at me with those glassy eyes while she took me in her mouth. Even now, just thinking about it made my cock twitch.

I heard a knock at the front door but didn’t bother stepping out. Rose was here- she’d answer it. She always did when she came over. I finished rinsing off, turned off the shower, and dried myself slowly before pulling on a clean -shirt and sweatpants. My new glasses sat on the nightstand, still in their case. I’d put them on later.

When I stepped out of the bathroom, Rose was already lounging on my bed, legs crossed, laughing at something on the

“So who knocked?” I asked, running a towel through my damp hair.

Rose turned her head, her smile widening. “Hey, you didn’t tell me you were sick last night.”

I paused, towel still in my hand. “How do you know?”

“It was your neighbor,” she said casually, reaching for the remote to pause the show. “She came by earlier. Brought some food or something. She also took her plates back. So… she cooked for you?”

“Yeah, why?” I asked, trying to sound nonchalant as I tossed the towel aside and sat on the edge of the bed.

Rose raised an eyebrow, her expression shifting into something more playful. “Oh, you should have called me. I would have prepared something for you. I made a lot yesterday.”

“I didn’t want to bother you,” I replied honestly.

She rolled her eyes dramatically. “You always say that.” Then her voice softened, a little too sweet. “Can’t you see that I have feelings for you?”

I sighed, already feeling the familiar weight of this conversation. “Rose, don’t start, please. I told you before We can’t be more than friends. There’s someone I like.”

She pouted, but there was a spark of curiosity in her eyes. “Who’s that really? You’re still not gonna tell me?”

I just laughed softly and rolled my eyes. “Pretend like I don’t have any crush at all, then.”

She grinned, but I could see the slight disappointment behind it.

“So tell me, why did you come here today? Did you come because of any work? Because I know we don’t have any project or school business together. So why did you come today?” I asked.

Rose shrugged, shifting closer on the bed. “I just wanted to come see you. My inner spirit just told me to come and look. I came and found out you were sick last night. That’s why I want to play with you for a while, to see if you’re doing fine.”

“Don’t worry,” I said gently. “I’m doing okay. I’m better than before”

I sat down fully on the bed beside her. “What are you watching?”

“It’s actually a Latiti movie,” she explained, her face lighting up.

She launched into a quick summary-something about a guy secretly in love with a girl who dosesty’) know it yet, complicated family draria, forbidden glances, and all that romantic tension. She was ammared in she talked, gesturing with her hands, and I found myself actually interested. The story sounded engaging enough that I nodded along

We settled in to watch. A few minutes later, Rose casually laid her head on my lap, getting comfortable like it was the most natural thing in the world.

My body tensed immediately. Her hair spilled across my thigh, warm and soft, and the casual intimacy felt… wrong, Not because I hated it, but because my mind was still full of Scarlett. Having Rose this close made me uncomfortable in a way I couldn’t quite explain.

1 shifted, then stood up abruptly. “You know what… I’ll just go get us something to eat. I’m hungry. I’m certain/you’re hungry

too.”

Rose sat up, blinking. “Let me cook something. I can whip up-”

“Don’t bother,” I said quickly, already moving toward the door. “Let me just go get something outside. I’ll be right back.

Before she could protest further, I grabbed my wallet and slipped out, closing the door behind me with a soft click. The hallway felt cooler, quieter. I leaned against the wall for a second, exhaling slowly.

Last night with Scarlett had changed something in me. I couldn’t pretend anymore that I only saw her as my neighbor. And having Rose here, trying to get closer, only made the contrast sharper.

I stepped out of the apartment building and headed straight for the small restaurant two blocks away. The cool afternoon ar helped clear my head a little, but not enough. The restaurant was busy but not packed. I ordered two cheeseburger meals with fries and a couple of drinks and stood near the pickup counter waiting. My new glasses finally sat comfortably on my nose, making the world sharp again.

That’s when I saw her.
