Leaning back against the sofa, Elena waved a hand–Liam’s cue to drag Alexander away.
Silence settled over him.

Born into a political family, he’d topped every class growing up, studied abroad young, and made a name for himself early on.
When the apocalypse hit, Alexander had been among the first to awaken a Super Power, leading his team to the highest external contribution point rating at the national base.
Pride ran deep in his veins, yet here Alexander was, sold to a slender, seemingly delicate woman. Reluctance gnawed at him, but he couldn’t deny the truth–without her, he’d likely be dead.
The thoughts flashed through his mind in an instant. Practical and sensible, he spoke up without hesitation, “I agree.”
Liam froze mid–step, glancing at Elena for further instruction.
“Untie him,” she said flatly.
Right on cue, the System’s voice echoed in her head.
“Level–2 Side Quest Completed. Rewarding.
“Reward One: Daily designated analysis limit increased to 3 targets!
“Reward Two: Spatial Base expanded 20x!”
In the next breath, Elena watched as the base within her space erupted outward. Centered on the massive five–story villa, the ground stretched tenfold, sixteen new buildings sprouting up overnight. Ten were three–story residential villas–smaller than the main mansion but equally elegant and refined. The remaining six served specialized purposes: Research Lab, Tech Hub, Medical Center, Mall, Military Barracks, Administration Office, and Surveillance Tower.
Shock rippled through her. The System’s power far exceeded her imagination–constructing such fortifications with indestructible materials was impossible for humans in the apocalypse, yet the System had manifested them out of thin air.
Building her own base later would be effortless; she could simply move this spatial stronghold into the real world.
But that was a problem for another day. For now, securing control over this small group took priority.
“System, analyze Liam,” Elena murmured.
The response came instantly.
“Liam Parker: Male, 31, 5 feet 10 inches, 141 pounds. Leo. Super Power: Wood Power. High loyalty, strong sense of responsibility, average IQ, high combat potential. Team compatibility: 91%-good.”
Better loyalty and responsibility than Larry–Liam was far more suited to lead.
“From now on, you’re in charge of this territory. Contact me immediately if you face danger,” Elena told him, tossing over a walkie- talkie.
Excitement flickered across Liam’s face, but it was quickly replaced by uncertainty. “Captain… aren’t you staying here?*

“I have other matters to attend to,” she replied, rising to scan the surroundings through the window. “The terrain here is solis you’ll be safe setting up camp.”
Turning back to Liam, Larry, and the others, Elena recognized their choice to survive outside the national base for what it was a desire for freedom, not confinement. She understood that, but freedom didn’t mean lawlessness. To keep them in line, they needed to remember who held the power.
A sharp glint flashed in her eyes. “Betray me, and I’ll make you wish you were dead.”
The threat hung in the air, chilling both men to the bone. It wasn’t just the dangerous aura radiating from her–something in her gaze made even these two men stand rigid, an instinctive urge to submit washing over them.
“We won’t let you down, captain!” Liam rushed to affirm, bowing his head.
Larry followed suit, staying silent and compliant. Since the apocalypse, he’d sensed a new energy within himself–one that let him influence others‘ minds through eye contact. But when this woman looked at him, his heart raced, his focus shattering completely.
What kind of terrifying power did she possess?
Alexander watched, his eyes darkening. He’d felt her intimidation, too–this woman was far stronger than she appeared. The two metahumans‘ unwavering respect, combined with the absence of the former fat leader, made it clear–she was responsible for his disappearance.
Curiosity stirred within him. He needed to know just how powerful she really was.
Elena wasn’t in a hurry. Trust and loyalty couldn’t be forged in a day, and they’d only just met. In time, she’d give them reason to Follow her willingly.
Outside, the sound of footsteps approached–Jace and the others had arrived.
‘Before I return, I have two tasks for you,” Elena said to Liam, her tone leaving no room for argument.
He bowed his head, waiting respectfully for her orders.
