Chapter 47 Until Absolute Trust Was Earned
“First, expand the metahuman team to twenty members–report to me immediately whenever you recruit a new one.
“Second, triple our current food reserves.

“Figure out the details yourself. Use the walkie–talkie if you hit trouble–it has a six–mile range, and I’ll be at the national base five miles away.”
Liam nodded vigorously, vowing to complete the tasks. Satisfied, Elena led Alexander downstairs to meet Jace and the others.
“Take Mr. Dickens to the street corner and wait for me,” she instructed.
She deliberately said nothing about the armored vehicles–Jace and the others were smart enough to keep her spatial storage a secret. The four set off on foot, Alexander in tow.
Elena headed to a secluded corner, stowing the four hidden armored vehicles back into her space before retrieving the base’s off- road truck. She turned to face the factory buildings, firing a grappling hook at a sharp angle to land on the roof opposite Liam’s building. Moving swiftly, she installed cameras at multiple angles, ensuring full surveillance of every move inside.
From now on, Liam’s team would be under her constant watch.
Obey, and they’d live.
Defy, and they’d die–simple as that.
Until absolute trust was earned, Elena had no intention of giving them any benefits.
As for Larry, his fate depended on his obedience. If he proved useful, she’d teach him to master his Super Power, turning him into a valuable asset.
But not yet.
With those thoughts, Elena drove the truck toward Jace and the others.
The car came to a stop, and Jace’s team climbed aboard–all except Alexander, who scanned the area, searching for his teammates.
“Get in. I’ll take you to Harvey,” Elena said, growing impatient.
Alexander didn’t hesitate, sliding into the vehicle.
Following the direction Harvey had run earlier, Elena soon spotted him waiting by the roadside. Beside him sat a burly man, his injuries far worse, resting on the ground.
“Captain!” Harvey’s eyes widened at the sight of Alexander in the car. Disbelief gave way to tears as he rushed over, embracing his leader tightly.
“I’m so sorry, Captain! It’s my fault we angered that gang over a few bottles of water–two of our teammates are dead!” Harvey sobbed uncontrollably.
Alexander’s expression darkened. He patted Harvey’s back gently. “In these times, human life is cheap. It was an accident–don’t blame yourself.”

“Captain!” The burly man struggled to stand.
“You’re too hurt to move,” Alexander said, helping him settle back down.
After exchanging a few words of concern, Alexander filled them in on what had happened.
Elena sat in the car, sipping soda and scanning the surroundings. “Are you done? We don’t have time for chitchat.”
Her impatience was evident, and the three fell silent, remembering they’d been “sold” to her by Harvey.
“What do you need us to do?” Alexander asked calmly.
“I’m hungry. Find some food–hurry up.”
Alexander frowned, glancing at his injured teammates. “I’ll go alone. They need to rest here.”
“Fine,” Elena agreed–she had no desire to push them too hard.
“Captain…” Harvey’s eyes glistened with tears.
It was a bitter sight–the leader of the top–ranked squad outside the base, reduced to fetching food for someone else.
Alexander patted his shoulder reassuringly before sprinting into the distance.
Elena shot Julian a look. “Go keep an eye on him.”
Julian nodded, vanishing into the shadows like a gust of wind.
Harvey swallowed hard.
So this was what it meant to serve a tyrant–this female leader was incredibly sharp.

A quarter of an hour later, Elena checked her watch–it was 3:40 PM. She opened the car door, sat down on the ground, and gestured to her team. “You’ve all worked hard. Let’s have lunch.”
‘Yes!” Emily and the others hurried over eagerly.
‘Emily, grab some good food from your storage,” Elena said.
Emily nodded, pulling out five self–heating fondues and bottles of mineral water from her Portable Spatial Ring.
They set one aside for Julian, then tore into their meals.
Harvey and the burly man stared in stunned silence.
They had no idea where Emily had pulled the fondues from–five whole ones!
Could they possess the legendary Spatial Power?
Elena didn’t care about exposing the ability. Her team’s secret wouldn’t stay hidden forever, and revealing Emily’s Portable Spatial Ring would help cover her own far larger storage.
