The Supers from the base followed Josie’s lead, but they had zero synergy. They were just spamming powers like idiots.
A Pyro would hurl a fireball, only for an Aquatic to immediately douse it with a water bomb.
The Undead they hit didn’t even flinch. Zero damage.
Josie’s crew, however, was a whole different story.
A few dozen people were dealing massive damage, hitting like a literal army.
It was all thanks to Zane. He used the Elemental Cycle to micromanage the fight, matching powers on the fly to counter whatever the Undead threw at them.
If an Undead was a Pyro type, he sent in the Aquatics to shut them down.
If it was Terrestrial, he let the Plant–type Supers tear them apart.
Maximum damage, minimum effort.
The skeptics who’d been looking down on Josie? They shut up real fast the second they saw her squad in action.
Josie was a powerhouse on her own, but the Blue Owl Squad’s coordination was on a whole different level. They were miles ahead of the pack.
A few dozen people were pulling more weight than hundreds of base supers combined.
The results spoke for themselves.
All that trash talk from the base crowd? It died out instantly. Not a single person dared to mutter another word.
High above, the petals of the Lirio stirred again.
Josie’s brow furrowed. “Everyone, rotate shifts,” she ordered. “Get some rest while you can, and stay sharp.”
“Another swarm coming?” someone gasped, their voice shaking with terror.
“Straight ahead. Ten minutes out. A pack of Tier–3 undead is heading our way,” Josie said, her face like stone. “If you can still fight, get over here and grab some energy water and rations.”
The supers from the base turned pale. They looked like they’d seen a ghost.
They barely had any Tier–3s among them. Most were Tier–2s, and some were still stuck at Tier–1.
Facing a Tier–3 swarm? That was a suicide mission. They didn’t stand a ghost of a chance.
The base crowd started backing off. “Maybe we should bail. We can’t take on a Tier–3 swarm. We’ll get slaughtered!”
“Leave if you want,” Josie said flatly, “But my squad is staying. This is the perfect chance for everyone to hit Rank–3.”
“Copy that!” the Blue Owl Squad roared in unison.
Their morale was electric, their blood pumping with a raw urge to kill.
Only a handful of Tier–3s from the base stayed behind. The rest scrambled back to a safe distance. They didn’t leave completely, though–they just hung back to watch the show.
Josie didn’t give a damn about them.
Training and fighting were personal. You did it for yourself, or you didn’t do it at all.
If you give up on yourself in this hellscape, you might as well just lay down and wait for the undead to rip your throat out.
Shoving the last bite of food into her mouth, Josie tossed the empty container aside and stood up, dusting off her hands. “Listen up! We go live in three minutes.”

A few of the Tier–3 Supers from the base stepped forward. “We’re following your lead now,” they told her.
Josie gave a sharp nod.
