Chapter 215
Josie looked at the rest of the Blue Owl Squad. “We need to learn how to fight in hell,” she explained. “We have to find a way to win, no matter how bad the environment gets.”
Today it’s deep snow. Tomorrow it could be a desert or a swamp. We’re going to hit places where you can barely even stand up.” “We’re all Supers, but don’t get cocky. If you rely too much on your abilities and they run dry, you’re dead meat if you can’t handle a real scrap. Without your powers, you’re just a target. Don’t let your biggest edge become your fatal weakness.”
“They’re just Tier–3s–perfect target practice. Only use your powers if it’s a life–or–death situation. As long as you’ve still got gas in the tank, you fight raw.”
“Nothing beats real combat. It’s a hell of a lot better than just drilling back at base.”
“Take this chance. Sharpen your skills while you can.”
“Am I clear?”
“Crystal!” The Blue Owl Squad roared, their energy through the roof. They followed orders to a T, keeping their powers locked down and sticking to blades and cold weapons.
Meanwhile…
Back at the base, the other Supers were getting restless. They’d been waiting forever for Josie and her team to return, and their patience was officially wearing thin.
“Are they even coming back? What’s taking so damn long?” someone muttered, shivering. “Standing around here in the cold is bullshit.”
“Why don’t we just head over first? All that meat is going to take forever to prep. By the time we’re done, they’ll be back, and we can just shove it all into the Space.”
“Good point. Let’s not wait for them. They’re pros anyway. A pack of Tier–3 Undead? They’ve got this in the bag.”
The base Supers reached a quick consensus. They didn’t stay a second longer, ditching Josie and her crew as they pushed forward.
Seeing this, a smirk played on Cyrus’s lips.
Perfect. Right again.
Now? Now it was time to hunt.
Cyrus ghosted behind the group. He was ready to make his move.
But then, one of them lost their footing. Thud. Someone wiped out right at his feet.
Even better? It was a girl.
She looked up and froze. Standing right over her was a guy–and damn, he was hot.
Her eyes practically turned into hearts. She immediately switched to a high–pitched, cutesy voice. “Hey there, handsome… you’re new, aren’t you? Are you from our base?”
Cyrus reached out, ready to finish her off. But her words made him pause. A better idea clicked in his head.
His brother was right.
The base was crawling with Supers.
Why settle for a snack here when he could have an all–you–can–eat buffet over there? That sounded way better.
Cyrus pulled his hand back instantly. “No,” he said. “I live out here, in the wilds.”
“You’re barely wearing anything. Aren’t you cold?” the girl cooed, reaching up toward him with a pout. “Come on, handsome, give

me a hand?”
Cyrus reached down, grabbed her hand, and yanked her out of the snow.
Lily Vance couldn’t take her eyes off the hand he held out.
Cyrus was gorgeous. There was no other word for it.
It wasn’t just his face, either–his hands were perfect.
