Chapter 216
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Lily circled him, playing the shy girl. “We’re all humans. We’re supposed to help each other out, right?”
“Humans?” Cyrus’s lips curled into a faint smirk.
“Exactly,” Lily said, testing the waters. “Do you have any family left? You should bring them to the sanctuary with you. My dad is the head of construction for the whole place. I can put in a word and have him set you guys up with a prime spot.”
“Most people in the sanctuary are living underground now,” Lily continued. “But not all spots are created equal. Trust me, having actual legroom makes a hell of a difference down there.”
“So you’re saying everyone at the base is living underground now?” Cyrus raised an eyebrow, locking eyes with Lily. “Nobody stays on the surface anymore?”
That was a new one. An angle he hadn’t even considered.
Which ‘genius‘ came up with that idea?
Before he turned, Cyrus was a total stunner. He had those classic bedroom eyes–the kind that could look at a literal trash can and
make it feel like the love of his life.
The transformation hadn’t ruined his face. Not even close. If anything, it gave him a lethal edge–a cold, effortless power that made him even more magnetic. He had this dark swagger now, a silent authority that commanded the room without him even trying.
To young girls, his magnetism was straight–up Tier–SSSSS.
Except for Josie.
So, when he looked down at her with that faint, knowing smile, Lily’s common sense went out the window. Her brain just
short–circuited.
She started spilling everything–the stuff she should’ve said and the stuff she definitely should’ve kept to herself.
“Yeah, most of the base lives underground now, but not everyone. The lower levels are pretty basic–you know, for the Norms,” Lily said. “But B2 and B3? Those were part of the original mansions. They’re fully decked out. Total luxury.”
“My family is on B2, in the elite district. The insulation is top–tier, and there are plenty of vents. It’s a frozen hell outside, but inside? It feels like a spring day.”
“If you’re down, you should totally move in next door!”
“Oh? Is that so?” Cyrus saw right through her. The girl was hooked. She was clearly thirsty for his face.
Before the world went to hell, he was a total magnet for women.
He hadn’t expected to still have that kind of pull over human females after turning.
It was a real shocker.
If Josie didn’t try to bash his brains in every time she saw him, he’d have figured his charm died when his heart stopped beating.
Cyrus flashed Lily a small smile, digging for more intel. “And the Supers? Where do they stay?”
“Most of them still live topside. A few are underground,” Lily explained, eager to share. “Some people hate feeling cramped underground, and the heating above ground is top–tier. We’ve got full central heat and dedicated boiler rooms. It doesn’t matter how cold it gets outside!”
“My family likes it underground because it’s way bigger. Upstairs, you only get a few hundred square feet, but downstairs? You can
have thousands!”
“My dad runs the department, so he hooked us up with some perks. Totally fair, right?”
