The guy yanked Lily aside, his voice a low hiss. “Are you out of your mind? You don’t know anything about him. You can’t just bring random people back to the base.”
“He’s a Super, obviously. What else would he be? An Undead?” Lily rolled her eyes. “The Undead stink like hell. He doesn’t. He’s clean, he’s fresh… honestly, he even smells a little like flowers.”
“Besides,” she added, “look at what he’s wearing. It’s freezing out here and he’s barely got a layer on, but he isn’t even shivering. Who else but a Super could do that?”
“The sanctuary is desperate for talent right now,” Lily argued. “A guy this powerful? We’d be idiots not to recruit him.”
“Josie has been lording it over us forever. Tell me, are you really okay with her having her boot on our necks?”
“If he joins us, he’ll be our first Tier–4. We’ll finally be on a level playing field with her.”
Her teammate wavered, clearly sold. “Are you sure he’s a Tier–4? What’s his gift?”
Lily turned to Cyrus immediately, her eyes wide and hopeful. “Cyrus, what Tier are you? And what’s your power? Mind giving us a little demo?”
Cyrus gave a casual flick of his wrist. A dozen snowballs materialized in the air, hovering perfectly still. “Psychic. Tier–4.”
Their eyes lit up instantly.
Holy shit. A real Tier–4!
This was the jackpot.
The sanctuary finally had its own heavy hitter.
Just like that, the squad welcomed Cyrus into their ranks with open arms.
Once the word spread–a Tier–4 Psychic–everyone practically rolled out the red carpet for him.
Not a single person even thought to doubt him.
Cyrus pivoted his plan on the spot. He’d infiltrate the sanctuary and treat the whole place like an all–you–can–eat buffet.
To play the part of a human, he turned on the charm. “Hey everyone, I’m Cyrus. Looking forward to working with you all!”
“Hell yeah! Finally, we’ve got a Tier–4 Super in the squad. Now we can actually stand tall!”
Just then, Josie and her team finished off the pack of Tier–3 Undead and regrouped with the main unit.
Josie looked up and spotted Cyrus standing right in the middle of the crowd.
Without a second thought, she lunged at him, swinging her greatsword down with everything she had!
CLANG!
The heavy blade slammed into an invisible barrier, stopping her strike dead in its tracks.
Josie had rushed the attack. With so many people around, she couldn’t risk using any of her high–impact area–of–effect skills.
On top of that, Cyrus was already a Tier–5 Alpha Undead. His defense was ten times stronger than it used to be.
Josie couldn’t even put a dent in his shield.
“Josie, what the hell are you doing?” Lily snapped, seeing her attack without a word of warning. “Just because you’re a Tier–4 doesn’t mean you can just go around bullying people!”
“A person?” Josie let out a cold laugh. “You think this thing is human? Don’t make me laugh! You guys must have a death wish. ‘s a massive Undead standing right in your face, and you’re chatting with it like it’s one of the guys? Have you all lost your

“You’re the one who’s crazy! Cyrus is a man, not some undead!” Lily snapped, her face red with rage. “You’re just scared he’ll take your spot, so you’re trying to trash his name!”
“Is everyone’s nose broken? Can’t you smell the rot coming off him?” Josie didn’t believe it. She grabbed Cyrus by the collar and yanked him right to her face, taking a hard, aggressive sniff.
