Chapter 221
“Tell me about u!” Josie said, her von e dripping with bitterness. “Told them he’s a monster, not a man Dula single person believ me? Is everyone here brain–dead? Some stranger pops up out of nowhere in the middle of the wasteland, and they don’t even get suspicious Thes just take his word for it and bring him home? Just like that?”
What a bunch of idiots! It they end up dead, they asked for it!”
The only reason I even cared was to keep Cyrus from leveling up too fast. Aside from that? They could all die for all I cared.” “They’re so damn stupid. Honestly, living is just a waste of food at this point.”
“Cyrus is probably just too hot. It makes them blind.” Zane saw right through it. Lily was acting like a total fangirl. With her vouching for the guy, the others didn’t really have a leg to stand on.
“Ha!” Josie’s temper flared. “So, just because of a pretty face, they’re letting an Alpha walk right into their home? Are you kidding me? That’s hilarious!”
“Now I finally get why Cyrus levels up so fast. Turns out he’s just using his looks to get a free meal!”
“What a shameless bastard!”
Zane waited until Josie had vented her lungs out. He handed her some water right on time. “Easy now. We’ll expose him when we get the chance.”
I’m worried we won’t have a chance!” Josie snapped. “Knowing Cyrus, he’s never going to pass up a feast like this.”
“The flesh and blood of a Super–especially a High–rank–is like a massive power–up for the Undead.”
“If a meal was served on a silver platter right under your nose, would you walk away?”
Josie let out a cold laugh. “Whatever. Let’s just let them learn the hard way first!”
“Fine by me,” Zane said. He followed her lead on everything.
Josie was a woman of her word. When she said she was done, she meant it. She didn’t have the slightest intention of calling the base to give them a heads–up.
To hell with warnings. Talk was cheap. If they wanted to learn, they’d have to learn the hard way–by getting hit where it hurt.
The next day, the snow was dumping down even harder.
Josie wasn’t in the mood for her usual workout. She just dragged a chair out to the enclosed balcony and slumped down. Winnie, her “Personal Chef,” came scurrying over. She set up a small table and a portable charcoal stove, getting the fire glowing hot under a metal grill.
She brought out the marinated meat and her special cumin rub, grilling it right there on the spot for Josie.
A small stove sat nearby, water bubbling away for tea.
Moments later, the meat was sizzling and the tea was steeped
“Try this, Boss!” Winnie chirped, holding a piece of meat right to Josie’s lips with a wide grin. “It’s a new recipe I just mastered.” “Mmm. Delicious.” Josie took a bite and nodded in approval. “You’ve got a real gift for this. You’re a natural, just like your mom. “Right? I think so too,” Winnie replied with a giggle. Then, she looked at Josie more closely. “Everything okay, Boss? You seem like you’re in a mood.”
“Oh? You can tell?” Josie raised an eyebrow at her
“Anyone could see it,” Winnie said with a shrug. “The others were too scared to come over, so they sent me to check on you. Big Sis. if you’re really in a bad mood, why don’t you just go pick a fight? Blow off some steam!*

Josie chuckled she reached out, wanting to give Winnie a pat on the head.
But the girl was just a bit too far away
