Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 223

Chapter 223

Guy’s name is Cyrus He’s the hottest thing in the base right now

He’s lucky you don’t hang around here much, M« Quinn, the guard added, smoothtalking You’ve got three types of powers

He only has one He wouldn’t stand a chame against you

Josie smirked and rossed him a pack of candy as a tip.

Sure enough, the guard’s face lit up as he snatched the candy. Thanks, Ms Quinn!

Josie and Zane made it inside the hase without a single hitch

They headed straight for the same hotel they’d stayed at before. The second she showed her face, the staff rolled out the red carpet.

She was back in her old room in no time.

Zane caught a break too, thanks to her. They put him in the room right across the hall.

The hotel actually had heating.

It was nice and toasty inside, a total relief from the freezing cold outside.

Josie finally started peeling off the heavy layers she’d been buried under.

As she was unfastening her wrist guard, it hit her. A flash of realization struck like a lightning bolt.

She knew. She finally knew why the kids were disappearing!

God, that was calculated.

And sick as hell.

Josie grabbed her jacket and bolted to Zane’s room. She gave the door two quick, impatient knocks before shoving it open. I figured it out,she blurted. “I know why Cyrus is snatching all those kids!

The words were barely out of her mouth when she realized Zane was right in the middle of changing.

Luckily, he already had his pants on. He was just halfway through buttoning up his shirt.

Josie didn’t even blink. She just sat down across from Zane, acting like she hadn’t seen a thing. We need to reproduce to survive. So do the Undead. Humans do it the natural way, but they can’t. They can’t just breed. So, they snatch our kids and turn them.

Kids have the best potential. They turn fast, and the odds of them evolving into HighLevel Undead are way higher.

Human numbers drop, Undead numbers spike. It’s a war of attrition. That’s how they beat us.

Zane finished his last button and nodded. Makes sense. But I figured he’d be hungry for the Supers by now.

I did too. But he’s playing it safe.Josie said. He’s dodging me. He knows if he makes a move on a Super, I’ll pick up his trail instantly.

Murder, cannibalismthat stuff leaves a mess. It leaves traces.

But kidnapping kids? It’s different. Even if they’re gone, we have no proof it was him.

What a snake. He’s too damn smart for his own good.

Josie’s temper was rising. Talk to me. How do I expose this bastard?

This is going to be tough,Zane said. Unless we catch him redhanded.
