Chapter 234
Winnie whipped up some late–night food for them.
Josie and Zane sat by the fire, eating and talking. They went back and forth on what to call their little base and what their next move should be. They finally settled on a name: Quinshaw Base.
It was a combination of Josie’s last name and Zane’s name.
Josie thought about it for a second and agreed.
Seeing that Josie didn’t object, a flicker of a smile touched Zane’s eyes.
Suddenly, Josie set down the roasted sweet potato–smelling incredible–and stood up.
“What’s wrong?” Zane asked.
“The temperature’s crashing,” Josie said, her face dead serious. “Go! Tell everyone to stay awake! Get everyone inside, now!”
“Got it!” Zane didn’t waste a second asking why. He turned and bolted.
A shrill emergency whistle blasted, jolting the entire Blue Owl Squad awake.
“Gear up! Put on your thickest clothes!”
“Crank the heaters! All the way up!”
“Alert the Agri–Science people! Tell them to blast the heat in the grow rooms!” “Everyone stay awake! Don’t you dare sleep! It’s about to get freezing!”
“Five minutes! Get it done! Move!”
Everyone scrambled into action.
The Blue Owl Squad moved first.
They were pros–fast, sharp, and efficient. Zane’s orders were handled in seconds.
The Agri–Science crew was older, so they were a bit slower, but they still managed to suit up before the clock ran out. Everyone huddled around Josie.
They stood with her, eyes glued to the thermometer through the glass.
A standard thermometer would’ve been useless.
But theirs was custom–built.
It could track the temp all the way down to negative 320 degrees.
Of course, if it actually hit that low, nothing on the surface was making it out

anyway.
If it ever hits that, it’s game over. Everyone’s dead, period. Just sit back and wait for the end.
They watched the gauge, eyes glued to the numbers as the temperature took a dive. It plummeted past -50, then -100, finally bottoming out at -150 degrees.
The world went dead silent.

Cyrus was back on his own turf. He sat at the very top of his tower, watching the world outside fall into a dead silence.
“Bro, Julian said, stepping up behind him. I already got them breedingt be long before we’re harvesting a whole new crop of human

Cyrus just gave a faint grunt. He didn’t look all that interested.
