Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 246

Cyrus thought about it for a moment, then decided to let it go.

He’d already tracked down the missile silos. Now, all he needed were the warheads.

If he could just set off one nuke, he’d finally hit Level 6.

Nothing else mattered more than leveling up.

Meanwhile, Josie and her crew were braving the brutal freeze, mounting weapons as fast as they could.

Josie dumped piles of coldresistant, heavyduty guns and ammo onto the ground. It was a hell of a haul.

Zane and his men started picking through the gear, grabbing whatever they could use.

Anything they didn’t need, Josie tossed back into her Space.

In just three days, they had Quinshaw Base armed to the teeth.

Like they saya small ship is easier to steer.

Josie’s crew was small, but their base was compact too.

It only took a few days to get everything locked and loaded.

The main base was a different story. Things there were moving way slower.

They were housing millions of people. Trying to arm every single one of them was a massive, nightmarelevel project.

Between being shortstaffed and the subzero temperatures, progress was at a crawl.

No wonder Arthur wanted to stick with Josie.

When a base is that big, all it takes is one weak spot for the whole thing to fall.

You never know where they’ll come from. You never know where they’ll hit.

Outside, it was a frozen hellscape. Every direction was a path for the enemy, and every inch was a death trap.

The base had spent a fortune buying weapons and ammo from Josie, but the survivors were still terrified. They didn’t like their chances.

But where else could they go?

It was too damn cold out there.

One step outside and you were a human popsicle.

Lately, even the gate guards stayed holed up in their booths. No one dared to actually stand watch outside

It didn’t matter how many layers you wore. Ten minutes out there and you’d be frozen to the bone.

It was just that brutal.

That was why the repairs and upgrades were moving at a snail’s pace.

anymore.

While Fort City braced for war, the scavengers from Haven City were grouping up. They were just waiting for the temperature to let up a little before marching on Fort City.

Tate, we’re gonna take that base this time, right? Look at those walls. Huge, thick… makes my mouth water, one of them said. Even

before the snow hit, I heard that place was toptier.

Failure isn’t an option.Tate licked his lips, a predatory look in his eyes. Look at the shit we’ve been dealing with lately. Chased like dogs by undead and mutants. Once this snow melts, you think we’ll suddenly have a good life? Fat chance.

Exactly, someone piped up. Who could’ve guessed those damn mutants would show up? The undead were already enough of a

headache.
