Chapter 271
Got it,” Josie said with a nod. She turned to Zane. “Hold things down here. Keep an eye on the guys while they rank up. I’m gonna go grab those supplies.”
“On it. Don’t worry about a thing,” Zane promised.
Josie followed the scouts, strolling along like she was taking a walk in the park.
Everywhere she went, the undead backed off like a receding tide. Not a single one dared to get close.
The aura of a Level 5 Super was pure pressure.
Tier–3 Undead weren’t brain–dead anymore; they actually had half a brain. Charging at someone they couldn’t beat? That would just be suicide.
The guys from the base watched her, their jaws practically hitting the floor.
Wait, did Josie rank up again?
This was insane.
Level 5.
In this hellscape, that meant she was basically untouchable.
Just as they reached the supply depot, a Tier–3 Undead tried to get cute and go for an ambush.
Josie didn’t even blink. She flicked her wrist, sending a vine snapping out. It skewered the zombie instantly. With a casual toss, she threw the corpse to Lirio, who was hopping along behind her.
Lirio unhinged its maw–chomp–and a second later, it spat out a pile of clean bones.
A total one–shot.
It didn’t even take a second.
With that speed and power, there was no doubt. She was Tier–5. It was a done deal.
Sure enough, one of the guys from the base asked tentatively, “Chief Quinn… did you level up again?”
“Yeah,” Josie replied, acting like it was no big deal. “It’s alright. I’m happy enough with how fast it’s going.”
Listen to her. Seriously?
She was flexing so hard it hurt.
Most people were still stuck at Tier–1 or Tier–2, and here she was, already at Tier–5!
That wasn’t just a gap. It was a goddamn canyon. No one was catching up to her.
Nearby, a group was busy kissing June’s ass. “Miss June, you’re a natural! You just got your aquatic powers and you’re already Tier–4! Finally, our base has a Tier–4 super of its own!”
June was beaming, but she tried to play it cool. “It’s okay. At least all that hard work didn’t go to waste. I guess it was worth the effort.” “You’re Tier–4 now–just like your sister!”
“Oh, stop. You’re making me blush.”
But right in the middle of their little suck–up session, a massive commotion broke out up ahead.
“What’s going on? Who’s coming?” someone near June asked immediately.
“It’s Josie! She just hit Rank–5!” someone up ahead shouted, their face lighting up with excitement. “I saw it with my own eyes. A Tier–3 undead didn’t even last a second against her. Total one–shot. It was badass! Word is, her Plant–type and Metallic powers leveled up at the same time!” “Most people struggle just to level up one ability, but she did two at once. Her talent is freaking insane.”
As soon as those words hit the air, every eye in the place snapped to June.
That smug pride June had been nursing just seconds ago was instantly crushed. It wasn’t just gone–it was ground into the dirt and stomped on. June’s face froze. She looked caught between a sob and a smile, like she was trying to force a grin that just wouldn’t land.
She dug her nails into her palms, fighting to keep her mask from slipping.
