Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 276

Chapter 276

Josie arched an eyebrow.

She got the picture.

It looked like Albert and his son had completely ignored her warning. They were dead set on using Undead Cores to level up, and they d dragged a bunch of other Supers down that path with them.

Well, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Right now, they were riding the high of an easy level-up. They’d learn soon enough that every shortcut comes with a price tag

Besides, Supers who used Undead Cores were basically ticking time bombs. Their power was incredibly unstable

They looked scary on the surface, but in a real fight against a Super of the same rank? They’d fold in seconds.

Worse, the violent energy inside those cores rotted the mind. It was irreversible damage.

Once you went down that road, there was almost no coming back.

Josie even suspected that if they kept pushing, they’d eventually turn into the Undead themselves-completely consumed by the cores from the inside out.

But hey, you can’t save people who are hell-bent on dying.

Let them do whatever they want.

If she couldn’t get her hands on the cores in Fort City, she’d just look elsewhere.

There were so many cities out there. Scoring cores shouldn’t be that hard.

As long as she had supplies, she had the ultimate bargaining chip.

With the mountain of food stored in her space, she had more than enough to trade for all the cores she’d ever need.

Josie looked at the others and said, “Since business is dead at the shop, you guys don’t all need to hang around. Just rotate in pairs. Use

free time to do your own thing.” your

“Got it!” they both chirped, nodding in unison.

The words had barely left her mouth when a massive, ear-splitting explosion ripped through the distance.

A cold shiver ran down Josie’s spine. She had a bad feeling about this.

She called for Lirio instantly. The plant shot up to its massive form in a heartbeat, and Josie grabbed a branch, swinging herself very top. She yanked a pair of high-powered binoculars out of her space and aimed them toward the source of the blast

One look was all it took.

Josie’s face went deathly pale.

A mushroom cloud.

A nuclear strike.

Someone bad actually dropped a nuke.

Josie was using a high-end telescope, the kind meant for stargazing. It could see for miles, even if the view was a bit fuzzy.

But you

didn’t need a clear picture to recognize a mushroom cloud. It was unmistakable.

“Josie, what’s going on?” Zane was the first one to rush out.

Josie leaped down from the tree. With every jump, Lirio shifted its branches, forming perfect steps for her to land on.

She hit the ground in a few quick bounds and looked at him. “Someone just set off a nuke.”

“A nuke?” Zane’s eyes went wide. “Cyrus!”

“Has to be. I can’t think of anyone else,” Josie said, her expression dark. “I have no idea where he found the warheads or how he managed to set them off. But one thing’s for sure-he’s definitely going to hit Level 6 now.”

Dead silence followed.
