Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 319

Chapter 319.

Josie Quinn accepted the captain’s kindness.

If there hadn’t been mutant beasts lurking in the depths, she might have considered doing some deep-sea fishing. But since the marine mutants were that dangerous, there was no need to take unnecessary risks.

Besides, her spatial storage wasn’t lacking in seafood, and she wasn’t even a big fan of it anyway.

“Let’s split up to search,” the captain suggested. “Everyone meet back here in two hours. No matter what you find, come back and gather Here so I know everyone is safe!”

He was a very responsible leader.

The other team members nodded in agreement. “Copy that, Captain!”

“As for you…” The captain looked at Josie, unsure of how to assign her.

“You guys do your thing. I’ll wander around, and if I find anything suitable, I’ll collect it too!” Josie said immediately. “But keep in mind, anything I scavenge for myself won’t be counted toward the team’s total.”

“Of course, of course!” the captain replied, nodding hastily.

Once everyone had agreed on their sectors and the meeting time, the group dispersed to get to work.

Josie waited until the others were out of sight before she quickly turned to begin her own search.

She patted the little Ivy in her pocket. “Sense the area carefully. Do you smell that same ‘food’ from before?”

Having been fed meat by Josie, Ivy was working exceptionally hard. Her trembling little tendrils waved around like tiny hands, sensing the environment with frantic energy.

It was a bit of a comical sight.

After sensing for a long time, Ivy whispered to Josie, “Mistress, nothing yet.”

“It’s okay, take your time,” Josie encouraged her. “This place is massive.”

Massive was an understatement.

The base stretched out toward the horizon. This was a facility capable of docking aircraft carriers; it had to be enormous.

Speaking of aircraft carriers…

Josie suddenly realized she hadn’t hoarded one of those yet. If she couldn’t find the nuclear warheads, an aircraft carrier would be a hell of a consolation prize!

Even though no one knew how to operate one right now, she could grab it first and find a crew later.

Josie described what an aircraft carrier looked like to Ivy. “Keep an eye out for something like this. I need it!”

Ivy sprawled on the paper, propped herself up on four root-legs, and stared at the diagram for a long time. Once she had committed the massive, complex shape to memory, she replied, “Okay, Mistress! I’ll definitely find it for you!”

“Let’s go. We keep looking. We’ll take whatever we find!” Josie said. “If it’s a weapon, I’m taking them all!”

“You got it!” Ivy hopped down from Josie, bouncing along as she scurried off.

After spending a day with Josie, the socially anxious Ivy was finally coming out of her shell. However, she was still terrified of other creatures. Since there were no humans, mutants, or Undead in this immediate area, she felt bold enough to explore.

She scurried here and there, poking into every nook and cranny.

Sure enough, this little sewer-crawling expert actually found a hidden weapon cache.

“Mistress, look here! Is this what you want?” Ivy ran back and used her trembling tendrils to tug Josie toward a specific spot.

Josie knelt down and felt around the ground. She quickly found a concealed handle.

With a sharp tug, she pulled open a heavy hatch.
