Chapter 351.
Chapter 351.
Lately, countless people had changed to have information on Sean Voss’s whereabouts.
Josie Quinn had merely given them some travel money to be on their way. None of them had provided a single shred of solid evidence.
But the man standing before her now had not only produced a photo but spoke with absolute certainty.
He had to actually know where Sean was!
Josie couldn’t hold back her urgency.
This way, please,” Josie said, standing up quickly. “Let’s talk inside!”
“Fine,” Sean Voss replied. He tucked the photo away and shoved his hands into his sleeves, following her in.
His posture and the way he walked didn’t look like a researcher at all; he looked exactly like any other common laborer.
Josie led Sean into a private room. She manifested two glasses of water and set them down. How did you get that photo?*
T’d like to ask you a few questions before I answer yours, if that’s okay?” Sean countered.
“Fine. Ask away,” Josie said, leaning back. “I’ll tell you what I can, but there are some things I have to keep secret. I hope you understand.” Sean nodded. “I understand.”
“So, who exactly are you people? Why are you looking for him? Is this a personal request, or is an organization looking for him? Can you tell me who the person behind this request is?”
That’s quite a few questions,” Josie replied. “I’ll answer them one by one.”
“First, I am Josie Quinn. I’m from Quinshaw Base in Fort City. As for who we are… that’s a hard one to answer. I can only say that we’re normal people, just like you.”
“It’s the apocalypse. Nations don’t really exist anymore. Everyone is just fighting their own battles.”
“It’s not just Newport City. It’s the same everywhere else.”
“Fort City and Newport City are actually doing okay-at least they’ve managed to preserve the spark of humanity. In many other cities, especially smaller towns and villages, humans have already gone extinct.”
“On my way here, I didn’t see more than three bases where humans were still surviving. Everywhere else has completely fallen.”
“So, what organization’ could there be? Even if one still existed, do you really think they’d have the strength to protect themselves right now? They’re all too busy just trying to stay alive.”
“The
person who asked me to find him made a private request. I can’t tell you exactly who it is unless you actually are Sean Voss.” “After all, I have to protect my client’s information and secrets.”
“I understand,” Sean nodded. “Then, can I ask about the outside world? I mean… other countries?”
C
“Other countries? I honestly don’t know much about that,” Josie answered. “After the Undead outbreak, things moved fast. The situation abroad seems even worse than ours. You know how people in those countries are-they live for the moment. They basically don’t store food or supplies.”
“And the Undead outbreak was global. Their preparations weren’t as thorough as ours, so their death rates and the rate of zombification are extremely high.”
This is just what I’ve gathered from bits and pieces of information.”
“Europe was the first to fall. They’re big on individual liberty over there. Well, freedom comes with a price.”
