Chapter 352.
Sean nodded slowly.
He had felt the same way.
A century’s worth of technological progress disappearing in an instant was very wrong.
“I always get the feeling that there’s a massive problem hidden somewhere,” Josie said. “But I can’t put my finger on it.”
“The common people today are lucky just to be breathing. Who has time to think about high-tech problems?”
“Look at the survivors in Newport City. They don’t even know if they’ll live to see next year. They aren’t worried about lofty’ questions.”
So, you aren’t looking for Sean Voss because of the things he has?” Sean asked.
Things? What things? He has something?” Josie asked back.
Sean’s eyes flickered. “If you’re looking for him, you must know his identity. Are you not after his scientific research?”
Josie froze for a second, then burst into a long, loud fit of laughter. “So that’s it! That’s why!”
Sean was baffled by her reaction. “What are you laughing at? Am I wrong?”
“Hahaha! He’s afraid to see me because he thinks I’m after his research? That’s hilarious!” Josie laughed until tears pricked her eyes. “You can tell him with absolute certainty that I am definitely not here for his research. In fact, I want to destroy that research and make sure it never sees the light of day again!
“Why?” Sean asked, bewildered. “Isn’t that what everyone wants most?”
“Of course not!” Josie wiped her tears away. “It seems you really are completely in the dark about what’s happening out there.”
“Please, enlighten me,” Sean said, sitting up straight.
“You might not know this, but nuclear radiation doesn’t just harm ordinary humans-it harms Supers as well. However, for the Undead and Mutants, it’s a potent boost.” Josie explained. “Detonating a single nuclear warhead would allow every zombie in a city to evolve instantly. It would also trigger massive growth in Mutants. Plants and animals that haven’t mutated yet would all turn together.”
“And they would become far more powerful than they ever were before.”
“And what about us humans? You know the answer. Nuclear radiation/destroys the entire genetic chain. It makes us rot and die.”
“The physical structure of a Super is better than a Norm’s, and their genetic chain is stronger, but it’s still nothing in the face of nuclear radiation.”
