Chapter 370.

“Leave it to me! I’ll make Josie Quinn public enemy number one! I’ll make her a wanted criminal! I’ll make sure she has nowhere to hide in human society! I’ll have all of humanity hunting her down!”

“That way, we won’t even have to lift a finger-she’ll trigger the weapons herself!”

“After all, all we want is the radiation from the blast. It doesn’t matter who detonates it.”

Cyrus clapped for her. “You truly are clever.”

“Thank you for the compliment!” June said smugly. “I’ll make sure the plan is seamless!” The thought of finally toppling Josie and

making her a pariah made June’s heart race with excitement.

“Alright, things here are just about wrapped up,” Cyrus said, standing. “It’s time for me to head back.”

“You’re leaving? What about this place? Are you just abandoning it?” June asked, stunned. “You went through all that trouble to subdue the Undead in Newport City, and you’re just walking away?”

“They’re just consumables,” Cyrus replied callously. “I’ll leave them for him to use for his advancement.”

“Him” referred to Lord Vane. Lord Vane had decent potential. Once he advanced and grew, he would serve as the perfect “fodder” to feed to Josie to help her reach Tier-8. To Cyrus, everything was a resource-whether Undead or human.

His ultimate goal remained: becoming the Undead Emperor.

Three days passed in a flash.

Josie and the others had mostly recovered. While some of their deeper wounds hadn’t fully scabbed over, their mobility was no longer hindered. To avoid further complications, they decided to set off immediately.

To distract any prying eyes, Josie spent a significant amount of supplies to recruit over a dozen people from the Base Commander.

Among them were skilled craftsmen, a herbalist, a chemistry teacher, and two Tier-4 Supers. Tucking a boiler stoker into that mix didn’t seem strange at all.

When it was time to leave the Newport City Sanctuary, the Base Commander was genuinely sad to see them go. To him, Josie was a generous girl; she had everything he could ever want. But he knew he couldn’t keep her.

Moreover, the entire Newport City Sanctuary couldn’t stay here forever. They had to find a way out, find a direction, and merge with a larger base. They needed to preserve the seeds of humanity.

“Every journey has an end. This is far enough,” Josie told the Commander. “Remember what I said. If you can move, move as soon as possible.”

“I will,” the Commander nodded solemnly. “I’ll remember your words. I’ll send people out to scout the situation immediately.”

“Try to find a large base to merge with,” Josie advised. “The ultimate destiny for humans is for small bases to consolidate into large ones. Only large bases can integrate enough power to fight the Undead and Mutants.”

“Understood!”

“Take care!” Josie waved casually and led her team into the vehicles.

As they watched the convoy drive away, someone behind the Commander asked, “We’re just letting them go?”
