Chapter 375.
After leaving that place, the group fell into a heavy silence.
Humanity was essentially bound by a shared fate. The extinction of a single city was a grim omen for the future of the species. If this continued, how much longer could they hold out? Would humans truly be wiped from the face of the planet?
Some even thought further. In Earth’s ancient history, had there been other high-intelligence species like them? Had they also faced mysterious apocalypses and natural disasters, only to vanish without a trace?
Linking it back to what Josie Quinn had said, the struggle for survival felt nearly impossible.
Josie sensed the low morale. “Why are you overthinking everything? We’re still alive, aren’t we? As for the future-who cares!”

“It’s just a title of respect,” Sean replied with a smile. “Even if you’re young, your maturity, exceeds most people’s. You’ve earned the title.”
The members of the Blue Owl Squad nodded in unison. “Exactly! We think so, too!”
Josie didn’t bother correcting them again. There was no point. In their eyes, she truly was the leader.
Over the next half-month, they passed through two more cities. These were in slightly better shape-human bases still existed–but the situation was still precarious. Josie stopped only to resupply and trade, exchanging what she had for materials they lacked.
They didn’t linger. They kept moving
Two weeks later, they finally returned to Fort City, covered in the dust of the road.
The moment they entered Fort City, Josie felt an immediate, inexplicable tension. The atmosphere was completely wrong.
When survivors out scavenging spotted Josie, their expressions turned to pure terror. They looked as if they were facing a mortal enemy. Some
