Chapter 377
Chapter 377.
The atmosphere instantly turned electric.
Josie Quinn turned and walked toward the shouting crowd. “What did you call me? A butcher?
“That’s right! You!” the leader of the group shouted aggressively. June and her parents have personally stepped forward to testify againar you?” “Testify to what?” Josie challenged,
“That you’ve always been a cold-hearted, ruthless monster hidden behind an innocent face!” the man spat, his arrogance growing. He even dared to point a finger at Josie’s nose from a distance. “You were abusing cats and dogs since you were a child! You stzughtered stray cats and dogs for fun! Now that you’re grown, you’ve graduated to hurting people!”
“Since the apocalypse began, you’ve become even more barbaric. You’re using your strength to force the base into running illegal human experiments for you!*
n
“If one of the victims hadn’t managed to slip past your guards and expose your crimes, how much longer would you have kept this hidden?” Josie let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “I’m running human experiments? You’ve got some nerve! Why would I run experiments in your territory instead of my own? Where’s your brain?”
experimental
“It was a classic case of self-deception! Besides, a lab that big is much easier to run in a major base. Where else would
you find 80 much material’ to kidnap?” the man replied self-righteously. “That’s the most disgusting part! You don’t prey on your own people-you prey on ours!” Josie was actually laughing now, purely out of spite.
Winnie Lane was so angry she was practically vibrating. “Did a rat eat all your brains? This is so obviously a setup! Can’t you see that?”
“If we were doing something like this, why wouldn’t it have been exposed sooner? Why wait until this exact moment?”
“And if we really wanted to do something like that, we would have just taken over the entire base! Do you really think you lot are a match for us**
“We have weapons, we have-”
“Enough,” Josie interrupted Winnie. She turned back to the crowd, her eyes/cold. “So, what do you want me to do?”
“Get out of Fort City! Get out of our sight and out of our world! we don’t need a butcher like you!”
“Our Base Commander said it clearly-we are only exiling Josie Quinn'”
“The rest of you can stay! You can even merge into our base!”
“We won’t lump you in with her!”
They were trying to drive a wedge between her and her people.
Josie turned to her team, her expression solemn. “His words reminded me of something. any of you feel like I’m not a person worth follow me, you are more than welcome to leave.”
Zane Shaw’s face went pale with worry, and he stepped forward to speak.
