Chapter 384.
“Is it happening this fast?” Joste urmured to herself “Is it coming this early?”
“What?” Sean didn’t catch her words, “What’s early? What’s fast?”
“Nothing. Let me think.” Josie took the recording and said, “Don’t mention this to anyone else for now.”
“I understand!” Sean nodded frantically.
Josie turned and walked out, her mind racing.
She suddenly realized something terrifying. The events of this life were not just different in terms of her personal experience: the timeline itself had shifted.
She remembered clearly that in her first life, there had indeed been a cataclysmic earthquake that tore the world apart. But that disaster shouldn’t have happened for another two or three years.
Why was it happening so soon in this life?
She had the distinct feeling that time was fast-forwarding-as if one day now was worth three days in the past.
Combined with the two Tier-7 Undead Cores in her possession-items that shouldn’t even exist in this world yet-she began to wonder what was she missing? What were these anomalies trying to tell her?
Those two cores couldn’t have appeared for no reason. Their existence had to have a specific meaning. Was it a nudge for her to absorb them and rank up? Was it a warning that the Undead King would appear much earlier than before? Or was it something else entirely?
Josie frustratedly ran her fingers through her hair. She hated overthinking things; it was a drain on her brain. She was a woman of action, not a strategist. But event after event kept forcing her to use her head. It was beyond annoying.
However, the report in her hand was a cold, hard reminder: a massive earthquake was coming.
Fort City wasn’t on the coast, but it wasn’t far enough inland to be safe. If a major quake hit, Fort City would be well within the disaster zone. Land subsidence and tsunamis were real possibilities.
It was no longer a question of whether Josie *wanted* to stay. She couldn’t stay.
Fort City was a death trap. They had to move!
Josie decided to stop worrying about the things she couldn’t explain and focus on the problem right in front of her.
“Someone, over here!” Josie shouted.
An aide ran over immediately. “Ms. Quinn, your orders?”
“Gather everyone in the meeting room. Aside from the sentries and the patrol, I want every single person in there. I have an urgent announcement, Josie said. “Got that? Everyone!”
“Yes, ma’am!” The messenger sprinted off.
