Chapter 405.

Once flora and fauna evolve to match human intelligence, it signals a shift in the world order: humanity has a new set of rivals for dominance.
Who says humans were destined to be the masters of this world? Any high-intelligence life form could take the throne. Perhaps on other planets, plants are the ones ruling everything.
When Josie Quinn thought of this, she couldn’t help but sigh. Has survival become this difficult for humanity? Mutant plant, in particular, had a better shot at becoming the ultimate apek predators because their lifespans were incredibly long.
After finishing her exchange with Lirio, Josie picked out the essential details and shared them with Kira Sinclair.
When Kira heard that she would have been turned into fertilizer the moment she showed signs of breaking through from Tier-5 to Tier-6, her face went deathly pale. She knew exactly what that meant. If she died, every single one of those children would be dead meat within days.
She realized then that she had truly met her savior. By recruiting her entire group, Josie had essentially saved all their lives.
“Chief Quinn, if you ever have a use for us, please don’t hesitate to give the order,” Kira said gratefully. “The children too. Whatever you need them to do, they’ll do it. We won’t be dead weight!”
The group of children nodded frantically. “Sister Josie, we promise to behave!”
“Good kids,” Josie said, reaching out to pat the head of the youngest child. “Don’t worry. Quartz City won’t be enough to hold us back.”
The convoy rolled into the city center.
Sure enough, the scenery along the way was exactly as Lirio had described-the entire city was baring its fangs and claws.
The original city had been well-planned, with neat roads and buildings lined up in perfect rows. Now, the landscape was a jagged mess, with chunks of the city missing as if they’d been bitten off.
Worse yet, massive networks of plant roots had seized the roads, prying the asphalt right off the ground. It wasn’t just impossible for a convoy to pass; even a person on foot would struggle. Every once-empty space was now choked with Mutant Flora.
As Lirio approached, the plants merely swayed their bodies. They seemed like they wanted to uproot themselves to make way, but then, as if receiving a different command, they returned to their positions. Their posture made their intent clear: the path was closed.
Lirio’s expression darkened. He was pissed. Since the Creeper had already lost to him, it should have fulfilled its duty as the loser and cleared the road. Otherwise, what was the point of their fight?
Just as Lirio was about to go find the Creeper for a rematch, Josie stopped him. She had seen through the Creeper’s intent. It wanted to see if Josie’s strength was worthy of being the master of a Primal. If she turned out to be a weakling, it wouldn’t mind “liberating” Lirio.
“Stay here, all of you,” Josie told the group. “I’ll go meet it myself!”
