Chapter 108.
Chapter 408.
But why should she let them ride her coattails for free? If they wanted to use the path she had cleared, they would have to accept the “gifts” she left behind!
None of those people at the base-Supers, Norms, or Undead-were going to have an easy time! Josie Quinn was never the type to suffer a loss in silence!
Sure enough, ten days after Josie and her team left Fort City, the base finally detected the seismic waves.
The equipment at the base was more primitive than Josie’s, so the initial waves they detected were very slight. At first, the monitoring officer didn’t take it seriously. But after detecting the same faint seismic waves for three consecutive days, he knew something was wrong.
The man quickly connected the dots. He scrambled to his feet and rushed to report the situation to his superior, the Base Commander, Albert Jansen.
“What’s the panic?” Albert Jansen was hosting a banquet with several guests, feeling quite comfortable.
“Commander, it’s bad! Something huge is happening!” The minor official in charge of monitoring was trembling. “A real disaster is coming!”
“Speak clearly! If you don’t know how to speak, then keep your mouth shut!” Albert said, displeased.
Now that he had driven Josie away and held absolute power over all of Fort City, he was in high spirits. He had no interest in hearing such gloomy
reports.

However, the official’s next words wiped the smugness right off Albert’s face.
“Commander, I know why Quinshaw Base evacuated so suddenly!” the man reported. “Fort City is about to be hit by a massive earthquake!*
“What? Speak plainly!” Albert had been leaning back lazily in his chair, but now he sat bolt upright.
“I’ll let my subordinate explain!” The official pulled the monitoring officer forward. “Quick, tell the Commander everything!”
The monitoring officer had run so fast one of his shoes had fallen off. He stood there barefoot on the floor, his whole body shaking. “I checked the data three times, and the results were identical each time. The formation of these seismic waves originates from…”
“Forget all that! Just give me the conclusion!” Albert interrupted impatiently. “I only care about the result!”
“The seismic waves are still relatively far from us, but based on the trend, it won’t be long before they reach us completely,” the officer stammered. “It’s hard to determine exactly how much time we have left, but it’s definitely coming! Because the intensity of this earthquake… it will be the strongest one ever recorded!”
“Strong enough to destroy heaven and earth. It will crush everything in its path.”
Albert’s face froze. “How reliable is this data?”
“Eighty percent… maybe more!” The answer caused the hearts of everyone present to sink into their stomachs, unable to be pulled back up.
