Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 430

Chapter 430.

Who would they go after next? The human

mans resting in the village would be their first target.

Josie wasn’t about to let that happen. She cursed the fact that she didn’t have a Pyro Superpower. If she did, a single wave of flames would have turned most of them to ash.

Josie moved fast, pulling gasoline drums from her spatial storage and hurling them like oversized grenades.

“Clang! Clang! Clang!”

She threw one to each of the eight cardinal directions. Then, she drew her gun, took aim, and fired!

“Lirio, get back!” Josie roared, unleashing a burst of bullets.

The bullets pierced the drums, but they didn’t explode instantly. The movie trope of a bullet hitting a gas tank and causing an immediate fireball was an exaggeration. Bullets moved too fast. They zipped through in a flash, often failing to generate the heat needed for ignition.

For fuel to explode, two conditions had to be met: the vapor had to mix with air to reach an explosive concentration, and there had to be a sufficient heat source. Inside a standard drum, there wasn’t enough air for an explosive mixture, and the friction from a lead bullet usually wasn’t enough to spark it. Tracer rounds or armor-piercing incendiary rounds could do the trick.

But Lirio was still in the middle of a brawl with the spider. Trees were terrified of fire. An explosion would have caught Lirio in the blast.

So, Josie used standard rounds to puncture the drums first.

The moment Lirio landed a final strike and leaped back to Josie’s side, she decisively switched to Incendiary Rounds. She hammered the punctured drums with a series of shots.

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

The Mutant Giant Spider didn’t know exactly what Josie was doing, but with its awakened intelligence, it knew that the foul-smelling liquid wasn’t anything good. It accelerated its birthing process.

“Everyone, get back!” Josie shouted. She pulled a flamethrower from her space and unleashed a roar of fire.

Then, she turned and bolted.

*BOOM-!*

A massive wall of fire surged behind her. The pitch-black night was instantly illuminated, turning the area as bright as high noon.

The newborn spiderlings were still tender and fragile. How could they withstand such intense heat? Countless babies were incinerated before they could even open their eyes to see the world. Not even ash remained.

Seeing this, the Mutant Giant Spider’s heart nearly broke! The brood it had worked so hard to nourish had been halved by a single fire. Its rage shifted instantly toward the hateful human woman.

It let out a screech of fury, its legs grinding together in a terrifying friction-based roar.

But it didn’t matter. Josie had already scooped up Lirio and was running as fast as her legs could carry her.

Why stay? To get caught in the gasoline explosion?

The deafening blast alerted Zane Shaw and the rest of the Blue Owl Squad back in the village.

“Stay here and don’t move. I’m going to check it out,” Zane ordered. He was too worried to stay put. After giving the command, he sprinted toward the site of the battle.

When Zane arrived, he saw Josie sprinting toward him with Lirio in her arms.
