Chapter 444.
“Shall we go together?” Cyrus asked.
“I think not,” Josie refused flatly. “I don’t trust you.”
Cyrus burst into laughter. “Suit yourself.”
“Alright, we’re heading out. Or, if you want, you can go first,” Josie said. “It’s best if we stay out of each other’s way.”
“Fine. You go ahead. I’ll wait here for the weaklings.” Cyrus nodded nonchalantly. “I’ll catch up to you soon enough.*
Josie didn’t say another word. She turned and ordered the team to organize. Once the vehicles were deployed, everyone boarded in order and sped away.
Julian Finch walked up to Cyrus’s side. “Brother, what were you saying to her? You two looked like you were having such a great chat. I asked around–Josie never had a boyfriend before the apocalypse… Hey, hey, Brother! Where are you going? Listen to me finish!”
“Noisy.” The only response Julian got was a faint, barely audible remark from Cyrus.
Cyrus didn’t know what he was thinking about, but he couldn’t help but smile.
When Josie returned to her team, everyone looked at her nervously.
With a serious expression, Josie called Zane Shaw and several other key figures to her bus, preparing for a temporary emergency
meeting.
“Did something happen?” Zane asked. “Did Cyrus give you some bad news?”
“Yeah. He gave me a brief rundown on the situation in Sierra City,” Josie replied. “He’s been there, so he knows a bit about the layout.”
“The human and Undead factions there are both massive. The humans are split into three camps, which means there are three human bases. It used to be one official base and two private ones. Later on, things got messy–the lines between government and private sectors blurred. It’s a total disaster.”
“The number of Undead there is staggering. When you have enough low–tier Undead, a group of high–tier ones will eventually emerge through sheer numbers.”
“So, by the time we reach Sierra City, the Undead there will likely be Tier–5 or even Tier–6.”
“Because of that, we can’t afford to be idle on the road. I’m requiring everyone with a superpower to reach Tier–5 or even Tier–6.”
“Otherwise, we won’t have a leg to stand on once we get there.”
“Whether it’s humans or the Undead, everyone is going to be fighting for territory. We can’t afford to lose to the Undead, and we certainly can’t afford to lose to other humans.”
