Chapter 445.
As soon as the words left her lips, everyone fell into a deep, heavy silence.
To be perfectly honest, they really didn’t want to cooperate with the Undead–especially not an Alpha Undead that looked at them as if he were constantly drooling.
The younger members of their team were almost all Supers. To the Undead, they were essentially walking, fragrant, oversized chicken legs.
Putting themselves in Cyrus’s shoes: if you were starving and a bunch of plump chicken legs were running around right in front of you, could you resist?
Probably not.
So, could Cyrus and Julian really hold back from “snacking” along the way?
However, Josie made a valid point. In the face of a natural disaster–especially one of this world–ending scale–the first priority wasn’t food. It was survival.
If you’re starving but a massive earthquake hits, you don’t think about eating; you think about running as fast as you can.
The same logic applied to the Undead.
Furthermore, these “food items” could cooperate with him to survive the catastrophe. A temporary alliance wasn’t entirely out of the
question.
Winnie Lane, who usually stayed in the shadows to avoid drawing attention, suddenly plucked up her courage and raised her hand. “Josie, can I say a few words?”
“Go ahead.” Josie looked at Winnie, giving her an encouraging nod.
“I think all of our unease stems from a lack of strength. If every one of us reached Tier–6 or Tier–7, would we still be afraid of those two Alphas?” Winnie said. “We’re going to encounter so many Undead, as well as Mutant Flora and Fauna on this journey. We should just fight our way through!”
“We can kill Undead and Mutants to level up, but the Undead only level up by eating people, right?”
“As long as they don’t eat us, there won’t be many other people for them to eat on this road.”
“It’s a zero–sum game. Their strength will stagnate while we continue to grow.”
“By the time we reach Sierra City, we might even surpass them!”
“If our entire team hits Tier–6, what is there to fear?”
Josie couldn’t help but applaud. “Well said!”
Winnie’s face instantly flushed red, and she sat back down, looking bashful.
The others joined in the applause. “Yeah, Winnie is right! All fear comes from a lack of power! Once we boost our strength, what’s there to be afraid of?”
“So, does that mean none of you object?” Josie asked.
“As long as they don’t mess with our people, I’m fine with it,” Zane Shaw said. “We’ll also step up our patrols and protection. We won’t give them a single chance to hurt our team.”
*Key get husky He’s carrot sold folks anyway,” one of the elderly professors remarked with a chuckle. “Just focus on goody be Ander tot mometom. To the Undead, a Norm isn’t nearly as tasty as a Super!”
