Chapter 459.

Albert and Tate Jansen looked at their team simultaneously.

Their once-orderly convoy now looked like it had been chewed up by a dog. It was jagged and broken.

Not only had they lost a massive number of people, but a staggering amount of supplies had vanished as well. Who knew how many heavy supply trucks had been swallowed by the earth?

At this moment, they didn’t even know what they had left.

Yesterday, they had been the high-and-mighty Base Commander and his son; today, they had nothing.

The psychological fall was devastating. It was hard to swallow.

But this was the apocalypse. This was reality.

Whether they liked it or not, they had to accept it.

June Quinn was right. If they didn’t give her enough profit and actual power, why should she care if anyone else lived or died?

Right now, power and status were secondary. Staying alive was what mattered!

This massive earthquake had snapped the father and son into instant clarity. In the end, breathing was more important than authority. During the quake, all they had thought about was survival, not their rank.

You had to be alive to want anything else. If you were dead, everything was gone.

Albert was a man of action who knew when to hold on and when to let go.

After a quick mental calculation, he made a decisive choice and agreed to June’s terms. “Fine. From this moment on, the entire convoy follows your orders.”

The corner of June’s mouth curled into a smirk. “Don’t worry, Albert. I’ll make sure we all reach our destination safely.”

On Josie Quinn’s side, as soon as they endured the first wave of the earthquake, the Terrestrial and Metallic Supers immediately began reinforcing their temporary shelter.

Everyone knew that a major earthquake was almost always followed by aftershocks. They were unpredictable-some might be small, others could be just as catastrophic as the initial quake. No one dared to be careless or cut corners.

After all, their lives were on the line.

Everyone poured their strength into the reinforcement. Layers of steel rods were bound together so tightly they formed an impenetrable structure. Unless the entire mountain collapsed, they wouldn’t be thrown out.

Sean Voss continued to monitor the seismic waves. As the machine whirred, printing out records, he shouted to those around him, “This earthquake could last for three or four days. Everyone, eat and drink when you can. Get some rest. If you collapse from exhaustion, you’ll meet the Reaper before the earthquake even gets a chance to finish you off!

The others nodded. “He’s right.”

Winnie Lane immediately spoke up. “Kids, let’s hurry and get some food started!”

“Okay!” The children gathered around.
