When they reached the ground floor, the building was dead quiet. Not a single sound.

But as they approached the exit, someone rushed over with their head bowed low just to open the door for them.

As soon as the door swung open, they didn’t even dare to steal a glance. They just hurried away as fast as they could.

They looked absolutely terrified.

Josie didn’t give them a second thought. She just strode right out the door.

Outside, a few undead began to close in. They were all Basic Tier.

Winnie, I’m only going to say this once. Right now, most of these undead are just Basic Tier. They’re fragile. Even a kid could take one down if they had the guts.

This is the best time to practice your combat skills.

Get over your fear. Grab a weapon and toughen up.

Because it won’t be long before the undead start to evolve.

Once they hit Tier1, norms won’t stand a chance against them.

By then it’ll be too late to try and get strong.”

If you want to survive this helland not end up as food for the undead or some psychoyou need to step up.

Strong like you?Winnie’s eyes lit up as she looked at Josie.

Maybe not that strong, Josie smirked. But at least you’ll be able to fight back.

As they spoke, the undead were already staggering toward them.

Josie pulled a wooden bat out of her storage and handed it to Winnie. Give it a shot.

Winnie’s legs were shaking like crazy, but she still reached out and took the bat from Josie.

She grit her teeth and closed her eyes tight. With a loud scream to psych herself up, she swung hard at the nearest undead

Open your eyes! Josie barked. If you’re too scared to even look at the enemy, how the hell are you going to kill them?

Winnie snapped her eyes open, but the sight of the rotting, disgusting face in front of her made her stomach turn instantly

She clamped her hand over her mouth, desperately fighting the urge to gag.

Food was too precious in this world. She couldn’t afford to waste a single bite.

Keep swinging! Josie barked the order.

Winnie gripped the wooden club, her eyes wide with terror and resolve. She slammed it into the next undead.

The blow connected squarely with its skull. A spray of foul, black blood erupted, drenching her hair, her face, and her clothes,

That was the breaking point Winnie doubled over and finally lost it, puking her guts out.

Don’t stop! Keep going! Josie snapped. You don’t get to rest until you’ve dropped a hundred of them

Winnie wiped her chin, her expression hardening into something primal She gripped the club and charged back into the fray

She kept swinging. She kept puking-

By the time she neared the end, she was a walking nightmare. You couldn’t even look at her, let alone stand near her.

She was caked in layers of rotten flesh and black gore.

The stench was enough to make anyone’s brain shut down.

But eventually, the dry heaves stopped. Somewhere in the middle of the carnage, she had actually started getting used to the smell.

Josie gave a slight nod of approval.

Not bad.

She’s got potential.
