Chapter 463.
Sierra City,
It appeared calm on the surface, but underneath, it was anything but.
On the final stretch of the journey, Cyrus and Josie had been exchanging intelligence.
“We’re the new kids on the block, so everything starts from scratch, Cyrus said to Josie. “Whether it’s the human faction, the Undead, or the Mutants-everyone is in for a total reshuffle.”
“I, Cyrus Finch, am destined to be the king standing at the peak. Josie, don’t be too pathetic. If you’re too weak on the day I finally kill you, I won’t feel any sense of achievement at all.”
“Are you kidding me? If anyone’s doing the killing, it’s me!” Josie shot back mockingly. “I have three different superpowers. You really think I can’t take down a single-type like you?”
Cyrus gave a light chuckle. Nice. I love that confidence of yours.”
“Like hell you do,” Josie said, rolling her eyes. “Cyrus, I’m going to kill you with my own two hands. Keep your head ready for me-I’ve already called dibs on your core!”
“Hahahaha!” Cyrus burst into a loud, boisterous laugh. “Fine. I’ll be waiting for you to come and take it.”
At that moment, neither of them realized that this casual exchange would one day become a prophecy-one fulfilled in a manner far more tragic and magnificent than they could imagine.
On the day she finally took Cyrus’s core, Josie’s heart wouldn’t be filled with joy, but with a crushing, solemn grief.
“Then this is where we part ways,” Josie said, bringing up their separation again. “Let’s see who grows faster. Let’s see who reaches the peak first.”
Cyrus nodded. ‘Fine. I’m almost at Tier-7. I expect you to be Tier-7 the next time we meet.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t be slower than you!” Josie made a provocative throat-slitting gesture. “The Undead in Sierra City will be the fuel
for my level-up!”
Cyrus smiled and said nothing more, leading Julian away.
As Julian left, he turned back and teasingly made a face at Josie. “Gorgeous Josie, we’ll be waiting for you! Bye-bye~!”
With the threats posed by Cyrus and Julian gone, Josie turned to the others to deliberate. “Alright, let’s talk about our next move. Where should we go? Should we check out a human base, or should we find a mountain and establish our own territory?”
The team was already well-accustomed to Josie’s democratic style.
The moment she opened the floor, everyone began chiming in with their opinions.
“I think we should find a mountain and be our own masters. We’re used to calling the shots; I don’t think we can handle taking orders
from anyone else.”
“But we just got here and we have nothing,” someone countered. “Building a base takes a lot of time and materials. Maybe we should just keep a low profile and check out a human base first. At least use them as a temporary foothold while we look for the perfect spot to build our own territory.”
“I agree. We should scout the human bases and see what the situation is like here in Sierra City. We’re humans, after all, and we’ll have to

deal with them eventually. Most importantly, we need to know our enemies and ourselves!”
“True. We can’t just build in a vacuum. We need to know what’s going on out there. Plus, we don’t know anything about Sierra City-the
roads, the factions, nothing.”
“Sierra City is massive. It’ll be hard to get a full picture, but it’s not impossible. We can send people out to gather intel. Besides, the current Sierra City is a different world compared to the pre-apocalypse era.”
“I think we can do both. One team can go pick a suitable mountain and start construction, while another team beads to a human base to gather information.”
That’s a great idea! Let’s split into two groups!”
“So, who’s going to build and who’s going to scout?”
Josie remained silent, listening as the discussion unfolded.
There was strength in numbers, and there were plenty of ideas to go around. One suggestion followed another.
Once she felt the discussion had reached a consensus, Josie spoke up. “It sounds like most of you prefer being our own masters. So, here’s the question: which mountain? Should we stay close to the human bases, or find somewhere further away?”
