Chapter 505.

Josie Quinn nodded. “What’s the situation?”

“The leader of The Peaks Base is a woman. Tier-6, Wind Superpower.” Zane Shaw seemed to think of something funny. He tried to hold it back but eventually failed, letting out a laugh. “She was planning on an alliance through marriage with Malcolm Monroe from

the Official Base.”

Josie’s eyes snapped wide. “Oh?”

“Now that Malcolm suddenly brought a woman back, the leader of The Peaks Base is livid,” Zane continued. “She’s already unilaterally declared that she’s cutting all ties with the Official Base.”

“Go on!” Kira Sinclair and Winnie Lane’s eyes lit up instantly.

Gossip was a universal hobby, after all.

“Back when Malcolm was moving to take down the second Base Commander to seize power for himself, the leader of The Peaks Base provided a lot of help,” Zane explained. “On the surface, they were two independent bases with no formal connection, but in reality, they’ve always been entangled.”

“The Peaks Base always sold grain to the Official Base at the lowest possible price. Especially Malcolm’s own personal supply-that was always the highest quality produce from The Peaks.”

“And they only charged him the price of standard grain.”

“So, her intentions were pretty obvious.”

“Before Sylvia Sutton and June Quinn showed up, there were some flirtatious sparks and romantic ambiguity between them.”

“Because of that, the people at The Peaks Base used to brag about having the biggest backing in the city. Everyone assumed their Chief would eventually marry Malcolm and the two bases would merge. That’s why the people at The Peaks accepted the low prices they were getting from the Official Base.”

“They figured they’d all be one family eventually.”

“But as soon as June and her mother arrived, Malcolm immediately drew a hard line between himself and the leader of The Peaks. He started acting like everything was strictly business.”

“How could she take that insult lying down? Word is, she already went to confront Malcolm.”

“Malcolm told her straight to her face that their relationship had always been strictly professional and that she had simply misunderstood everything.”

“So, she went back to her base and went on a rampage. She announced a total halt of all food supplies to the Official Base. On top of that, she demanded that all the previous discounts they’d given be paid back in full at market price before she’d even consider future

cooperation!”

“Malcolm is furious about it. He’s accusing The Peaks Base of treachery. He claims the prices were agreed upon by both parties and that she’s the one acting in bad faith by breaking the contract now.”

“Now, the two bases are in a total cold war.”

“What’s the deal with this female leader?” Josie asked. “Do you have detailed info on her?”

“Right here!” Zane handed a handwritten file to Josie while giving a verbal summary. “Nadia Neville. Forty-one years old. Leader of The

Peaks Base. Tier-6 Wind Superpower. Before the apocalypse, she was an agribusiness mogul who controlled several agricultural companies. She has a massive stockpile of seeds in her possession.”

“Her personality is fiery and blunt. She’s currently unmarried. She had a brief marriage when she was young, but it ended quickly because her husband cheated. And he cheated with a man. Nadia was so enraged she exposed the whole thing and filed for divorce immediately.”

“After the divorce, she lost interest in romance and threw herself entirely into her career.”

“She started by leasing thousands of acres in the Northern Plains and gradually built an empire. Eventually, her business spanned multiple industries-grain, seeds, fertilizer, machinery, even real estate and finance.”

“She became incredibly wealthy-a true self-made powerhouse in her region.”

“When the apocalypse began, her sharp instincts told her something was wrong.”

“She spent three months liquidating her assets and moved to Sierra City alone.”

“Oh, by the way, she isn’t originally from Sierra City, but her grandmother was.”

“She probably guessed that chaos was coming, so she chose Sierra City as a place to stay low and develop.”

“And facts proved her right. As soon as the world ended, she built her own team and protected her supplies like a fortress. No one could steal a thing from her.”

“Before the Power Rain fell, I don’t know if she got a tip or just had a gut feeling, but she had her people hoard a massive amount of soil in a warehouse. A whole warehouse, packed to the rafters with dirt.”

“People laughed at her back then. They said she was an idiot for hoarding dirt instead of supplies. Looking back, the people laughing were the real morons. Nadia was truly brilliant and far-sighted.”
