Doomsday Reven
Chapter 95
“I have something to tell you,” June said, sliding into the seat across from him. “I invited Mr. Jansen over. I figured the two of you could use a drink.”
“Oh? You invited him?” Victor’s face soured. “Since when do you make calls like that without checking with me first?”
“Wait, what? I did tell you!” June played dumb, looking hurt. “Victor, I mentioned it last night! You even nodded. It was right when I was seeing those two girls out. Did you seriously blank on me?”
Victor hesitated, looking confused. “I guess… I must have forgotten.”
June flashed a sweet smile. “It’s fine. Anyway, I asked Mr. Jansen to bring a couple of new girls along to spice things up for you tonight!”
That’s my girl!” Victor let out a loud laugh, reaching out to grab her waist and pull her into his lap.
June slipped out of his reach like a shadow, smoothly pressing a glass of wine into his hand instead. “Easy there, big guy,” she teased with a playful pout. “We’ve got all the time in the world. You’d better save that energy for the new girls.”
Hahaha! Fair point!” Every bit of Victor’s annoyance vanished instantly. “June, I swear, you’re the most perfect woman I’ve ever
met.”
I try,” June said, her fake smile perfectly in place. “Like I said, we’ve got a long future ahead of us. To you, Victor!”
Riding the high of the ego boost, Victor didn’t hesitate. He slammed the drink back in one go.
une watched Victor gulp down the spiked wine. She flashed him a sweet smile, but the moment he looked away, she quietly lumped her own drink behind her back.
A few moments later, Tate showed up.
Two young girls with killer bodies were trailing right behind him.
une stood up immediately. “Mr. Victor, we’ll stay out of your hair. Let me take care of Mr. Jansen for you!”
Yeah, yeah, fine. Go,” Victor said, waving her off dismissively. He couldn’t wait another second. He lunged at the two girls,
rabbing them tight and mauling them with messy, hungry kisses.
une locked eyes with Mr. Jansen. They both stood up and headed out.
Is it done?”
Yeah.”
Then we wait outside.”
The two of them headed downstairs immediately to set an alibi. They needed to make sure everyone saw they were nowhere near
hat room.
This way, when Victor turned up dead, their hands would be clean.
Besides, in this world, people dropped dead all the time. It wasn’t like anyone was going to perform an autopsy.
Even if someone wanted to, they wouldn’t get the chance.
One match and the whole thing would be nothing but ash.
Less than thirty minutes later, a scream ripped through the air from upstairs. “Sir! Sir, wake up!”
Tate and June locked eyes. In sync, they both bolted back toward the stairs.
Right before she burst through the door, June dug her nails into her own thigh, hard. The sharp sting worked instantly. Tears flooded her eyes.

They burst into the room and saw him. Victor’s eyes were wide, bulging out of his head. He wasn’t breathing. He was dead.
The two girls were hysterical, their voices shrill and shaking. “It wasn’t us! We swear! He just… he just stopped moving!”
“Drag them out!” the old butler roared, his face twisted with grief and rage. “Kill them! They’re going down with him!
“Wait, please,” June sobbed, tears streaming down her face. “You can’t do that. They were only here to take care of him. You can’t blame them for this.” She clutched her chest, her voice breaking. “Victor… why didn’t you look after yourself? How could you just… Oh god, what am I going to do without him?”
Tate didn’t miss his chance. “It’s a damn shame about Victor,” he said. “But a crew can’t function without a leader. You guys better pick someone to step up and call the shots for him, and fast.”
Someone in the crowd caught the signal and piped up immediately. “Look, June and Mr. Victor might not have been officially narried, but to us, she’s the boss’s lady! I say June takes over the crew and the stash. It’s all hers!”
I object!”
