Steve pushed open the car door and stepped out. He barely had time to close it before the BMW roared away, leaving him standing there, swallowing a lungful of exhaust. He squinted after the fading taillights, spinning his phone in his hand, a sly smile tugging at his lips.
“Some things never change,” he muttered.
He wasn’t sure why, but suddenly he felt a surge of curiosity about what it would take to pull off Sylvia’s mask. Turning away, he strolled into the lobby, heading for the elevator. While he walked, he pulled out his phone and sent Sylvia a message.
[I’ve got a big client who wants to buy ten large farm machines. Any chance you can get me the employee price? I’ll pay you the difference myself, off the books.]
Nothing tested someone’s greed quite like the temptation of a fat kickback. Steve didn’t believe for a second that Sylvia would pass up such easy cash.
He hit send. Right away, a glaring red exclamation point popped up on the screen.
[Message sent but rejected by recipient.]
Steve froze, nearly tripping over his own feet. He stared at the little red icon in disbelief. She’d taken his money, then turned around and blocked him again?
“Sylvia!” he growled, biting down hard in frustration. A wave of helpless anger washed over him.
Fine. Whatever.
With a stormy look, Steve strode into the elevator.

Emmy gasped, her legs automatically locking around his waist. “You—” she started, but the words vanished under another urgent kiss.
Maybe it was the thought of tomorrow’s goodbye, but tonight, everything felt more intense. They were wild and reckless, trying to burn each other’s memory into their skin, making up for all the days they’d have to spend apart. James’s stamina, honed by years of military training, was relentless. He moved like he’d never get tired, taking Emmy higher, then pulling her down into the depths with him, again and again.
Sweat traced down his jaw and splashed onto Emmy’s pale collarbone, making her shiver. The room filled with the kinds of sounds that made hearts race and faces flush.
Finally, James reached for the little box on the nightstand. His fingers brushed against cardboard—empty.
The hotel’s complimentary supply was completely gone.

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
