They arrived. James scooped Emmy up from the car and carried her straight up the steps to the private jet. The flight crew waited at the door, eyes fixed on the floor, pretending not to notice a thing. Once inside, James set her down gently on the buttery leather sofa and tucked a blanket around her. He leaned in, his hand warm against her cheek.
“Try to sleep. Once you wake up, we’ll be in Boston.”
Emmy gazed up at his striking face, a sudden ache of longing swelling in her chest. She caught his hand, holding it tight, her fingers digging in just a little.
“Promise me you’ll be careful. I need to know you’re safe.”
James’s lips curled into a smile, that familiar, cocky confidence lighting up his eyes again.
“Relax. No one on earth can touch me.”
He kissed her, soft but firm, a kiss that spoke only of how much he cherished her. No heat, just pure devotion.
“I have to go.”
He glanced back at her one last time, eyes lingering, then turned and strode down the stairs without a backward glance. The cabin door closed with a quiet thud.
Emmy watched through the window as James’s car pulled away, shrinking into the distance until it was gone. She kept looking after him, then finally tore her gaze away and yanked the blanket off.
“Captain!”
The captain rushed over, head bowed. “Ma’am, what do you need?”
Emmy gripped the armrest and pushed herself upright, her legs still shaky.
“Hold the takeoff. Give me two hours. I have something to take care of.”
He nodded. “Of course. Please come back soon.”
Emmy turned to Penny. “You’re coming with me.”
James. What was he doing there? If he caught her sneaking back, he’d be furious.
She forced herself to sound casual. “Sorry, I think we took a wrong turn. Could you turn around up ahead?”
The driver blinked, confused, but nodded. “Sure, there’s a spot just ahead.”
He steered the car past the estate’s driveway and started a slow U-turn at the next intersection. As the car swung around, Emmy couldn’t help glancing back at the house.
The SUV’s rear door was open. Her mother and James were standing on either side, and from inside, they carefully lifted out two perfect little kids. One was a girl in a pink dress, the same Dolly she’d seen before. The other was a little boy in overalls.
Emmy’s voice shook. “Driver, slow down. Please. Really slow.”
He eased off the gas, the car crawling forward. Emmy pressed her face to the window, stunned. It wasn’t just Dolly. There was another child.
As the old house began to block her view, she fumbled for her phone, snapping photos as fast as she could. Click, click, click. Even after the two tiny figures disappeared from sight, Emmy sat frozen, phone still in her hand, heart racing.

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
