Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1085

Krystina glanced down at the document and noticed two new bullet points at the end. The first said, “Workaholics like Krystina are banned from entering the forest.” The second read, “Each team should bring a portable toilet, just in case someone makes everyone else die of embarrassment.”

She stared at the screen, eyebrows drawn tight. These suggestions felt way too personal and completely unprofessional. She was about to tell him to rewrite them, maybe think it through with a little more focus on operations and costs. She didn’t even get a chance to open her mouth.

Danny was already standing up, looking down at her from above. “Go ahead and bury yourself in work. If you run yourself into the ground, it’s not my problem. I must’ve lost my mind to skip out on diving just to talk about work with you.”

He shoved his hands into his pockets, looking like he wanted nothing more than to bolt. Without another word, he stormed off, his whole vibe screaming for people to stay away.

Krystina just sat there, stunned, unable to understand why he’d lost his temper so suddenly. “Danny!” she called after him, “Wait, you’re not done with your suggestions! This is so half-hearted!”

He only picked up his pace, disappearing down the winding park path.

Staring at the empty intersection, Krystina muttered, “What is his deal? Is it really that hard to give a few suggestions? Why the meltdown? Honestly, young people these days have zero resilience.”

Left with no other option, she went back to brainstorming on her own. She tried to see things from a guy’s perspective, thinking about stuff like physical exhaustion and emergency supplies, and typed up a few practical suggestions. Only after closing her laptop did she realize the pain in her leg had gotten worse.

By evening, Sylvia rushed into the hotel room, looking worried. “Krystina! What happened? I just heard from the manager downstairs that you got bitten by a snake in the forest. Are you okay?”

Her voice softened a little, something conflicted flickering in her eyes. “But… I guess risking his life for me does seem like more than just being a good coworker. That’s exactly why I’m struggling. I have no idea what would be enough to pay him back for this.”

Sylvia wasted no time shaking her head. “No way. There’s more to it than your job title, trust me.” She hugged a pillow close and crossed her legs, getting into full analysis mode.

“Think about it. I’m a project director. If I got hurt, wouldn’t that be a problem for Mr. Lincoln too? But I’ve never seen Danny act like that with me. Remember when we went diving? I started choking, and I was literally right next to him. He didn’t even look at me—he was staring at you the whole time. I had to grab onto him just to get pulled out of the water.”

She got more animated as she spoke. “I thought he liked you even back then, he just hid it really well. But this time? He sucked out venom. That’s risking his life. If that doesn’t mean something, I’ll eat this hotel mattress.”
