Emmy’s eyes shot wide open.
She hated it when he tried to kiss her during an argument. It just made everything inside her messier. How could she ever think straight about what was actually wrong between them like this?
“Let go… mmph!” Her protest was muffled as she pushed at James’s chest. It was useless. Her hands might as well have been swatting at a wall. He barely felt it, and instead, something wild in him only seemed to wake up at her resistance.
James tightened his arms, crushing her closer. She could hardly breathe. Her pulse raced as he seized the moment, forcing past her clenched teeth, deepening the kiss until it was all heat and intensity. He left no space between them, no room for her to get free.
Emmy snapped. She bit down, hard.
The metallic taste of blood flooded her mouth. James jerked in pain and finally let go. He looked at her, breathing ragged, a line of blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. It made the sharp lines of his face look even more dangerous.
He wiped the blood away with the back of his thumb, his eyes shining red beneath his furrowed brow. His voice came out rough, almost broken. “So, what, have you really fallen for that blond guy?”
Emmy sucked in a shaky breath. She glared at him, heart pounding, her eyes filling up with hurt and anger. “James, you are such an ass.”
He flinched, and suddenly all that bravado just seemed to crumble away. His shoulders slumped. He gave a bitter little laugh, looking anywhere but at her. “I knew it. You and him, you tech people have so much in common. There’s always something to talk about.”
“He’s… young. Smart. He probably suits you better. Not like me, a guy who only knows how to fight.”
Emmy couldn’t even find words for this. He just never got it. He completely missed the point, as usual. She pressed her lips together, feeling a lump rise in her throat.
“Think what you want.” Emmy shoved him aside and yanked open the door. She walked out without looking back.
This time, James didn’t chase after her. He could only stare helplessly as her figure disappeared. The door slammed shut behind her, that harsh sound echoing through the room and slamming into his chest.
He stood frozen for a long time, then finally stumbled to the sofa and collapsed onto it. Leaning back, he covered his eyes with one arm, blocking out the lonely grayness spreading behind them.
The room was silent. Time stretched.
Eventually, Keaton slipped in, moving as quietly as possible. He hesitated before whispering, “Sir…”
No answer.
He tried again, a little louder. “Sir?”

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....
CHAPTER 1220 HAS NO WORDING JUST THE CHAPTER NUMBER...
Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
