The men being herded like dogs on a chain weren't just random stranded stragglers. The man walking at the front, his face smeared with blood, was Will. Right behind him, with half his shoulder soaked in blood yet his gaze as fierce as ever, was Brett. And the two men bringing up the rear were Zachary and Quincy, the absolute best assault and demolition specialists in his Dragon Squad. These four were his brothers, men who had braved life and death with him countless times.
The aura around James instantly plummeted. Standing nearby, Zack acutely sensed the shift. His gaze darted between James and the captives. He narrowed his eyes, gripping his bloody whip tightly, and asked in a rough voice, "What? Do you know these stragglers?"
James indifferently retracted his gaze, his voice entirely flat. "Never seen them."
Without breaking stride, he walked straight toward the ship's gangplank. The four chained men subtly swept their eyes over his muscular back, a flash of wild joy instantly igniting in their eyes.
It was their captain.
For the past few days, they had navigated non-stop through war zones, turning the entire Delta upside down without finding a single trace of James. Left with no other options, the four of them had taken a massive gamble. They purposefully stripped off their gear, battered themselves up, and disguised themselves as desperate stragglers. When they were captured and beaten, they hadn't even uttered a single grunt, all to infiltrate this heavily blockaded enemy zone. They hadn't expected their life-or-death gamble to actually lead them straight to their leader.
As the four men suppressed their excitement, the sharp crack of a whip suddenly sliced through the air behind them.
Smack!
The leather whip lashed viciously across Quincy's back. A heavy-set mercenary cursed loudly, "Stop dawdling! Get your asses over there and move those oil drums! You got a death wish?"
Quincy whipped his head around, glaring at the man with a look so murderous it seemed he wanted to eat him alive. The mercenary felt a chill crawl up his spine under that stare. Humiliated by his own fear, he furiously raised his whip again. "What are you looking at? You dare glare at me!"
